Itās Wednesday, and that means a fresh #PinkTutuRome adventure is here to bring you some sunshine! Iāve been living it up in Rome, the eternal city thatās definitely giving me some serious "La Dolce Vita" feels.
This week Iām all about discovering the ballet and fashion side of Rome ā think historical ballet venues, stylish boutiques, and of course, a whole lotta pink!
Train to Rome: Fashion on the Rails
Letās start with the journey, shall we? My train from Derbyshire was as pink as I could make it. Iāve discovered the best way to make a train journey truly fabulous is to travel in your own personal ballet studio. My signature pink tutu is always on board, paired with a beautiful flowing pink maxi dress and my ballet pumps ā a must for graceful hopping between carriages!
The train was packed, which is no surprise on a Wednesday, but I was on a mission to share my love for the colour pink and the grace of ballet! Every seat neighbour got a smile and some giggles at my twirls. (They were definitely secretly impressed with my pointe work!) I managed to convince a group of youngsters that the best way to eat your picnic lunch is whilst holding your legs in fifth position, which went down a treat! My favourite part, however, was watching the sunset turn the Italian countryside into a magical masterpiece as we pulled into Roma Termini.
First Impressions: The Beauty of the Eternal City
Roma Termini is definitely a buzz! Such excitement with locals going about their lives, and tourists getting ready to explore this breathtaking city.
Rome really has that "wow" factor, right from the get-go. Everywhere I look, I'm met with a feast for the eyes: cobblestone streets, majestic buildings, and historical squares. The energy is electrifying, and I already know this is going to be a very special week! And can we talk about the food?! Itās the most delightful mix of fresh, flavoursome pasta, mouthwatering pizzas, and incredible desserts. I swear, everything here tastes like it's been touched by the gods. This week's menu: tiramisu and lots and lots of gelato.
Opera in Rome: A Grand Performance
Tonight, Iām experiencing the magic of the opera! Tonightās show is at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, an absolutely stunning building ā imagine soaring arches, glittering chandeliers, and plush velvet seating ā perfect for watching a graceful, dramatic ballet.
But before the performance, I indulged in some delightful Italian fashion therapy, hunting down the perfect dress to wear for tonightās big night. The streets of Rome are brimming with stylish boutiques, so finding something special wasnāt hard. A sleek, crimson dress with a hint of shimmer felt right. My pointe shoes and a delicate gold chain necklace? Done! Iām all ready for my big opera adventure!
Wednesday Shopping Spree: Fashion Inspiration on every Corner
Of course, Rome is not just about its history and architecture; it's also a haven for fashion lovers!
There are hidden boutiques on every corner, each with a distinct personality. I discovered some fantastic pieces in a vintage store, finding some statement necklaces that would go perfectly with my pink tutus. I think they will bring some āLa Dolce Vitaā charm to my dance performances!
Pink Tutu Everywhere
This week has been a dream! Rome, with its beauty and passion, is truly enchanting. But even more so, I love that Iāve managed to get a few fellow Romans twirling in tutus.
So, join me in embracing the spirit of ballet, and remember, you don't need a stage to dance, you can be a graceful ballerina anywhere, in anything!
