Pink Tutu Rome: Post 1559 - A Ballet-Lover's Dream Trip! ๐Ÿฉฐ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger, Emma, checking in from the utterly enchanting city of Rome! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of pink and twirls, this time with a distinctly Italian flavour.

As you all know, Rome has been calling me for ages. The Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon - they've all been on my must-see list for, well, forever! And after months of saving every penny from my ballet gigs, I'm finally here, ready to explore the Eternal City in all its glory.

Arriving in Style (And with a Tutu, of course)

I travelled to Rome by train, which is always such a fun and romantic way to journey. My fellow passengers gave me a few curious looks, but honestly, I don't care! I always stand out in my pink tutu - it's a statement, and frankly, I love the attention it draws.

Speaking of statement-making, let me tell you, the Romans have fashion down to a tee! The cobbled streets were awash with elegant ladies in chic dresses and dashing gentlemen in tailored suits. But for me, nothing beats the joy of wearing my pink tutu everywhere I go. Rome is already looking fab, and I'm so ready to make it even more fabulous, one twirl at a time.

A Ballet-Lover's Paradise

Rome has a thriving ballet scene, which is fantastic news for this tutu-wearing aficionado! On my first day, I went to see a spectacular ballet performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. The dancers were breathtakingly talented, and I'm so glad I got to see the beautiful interior of the theatre, a real historical gem.

The opera house, which is a beautiful Baroque masterpiece, is on the same street as the grand and majestic Quirinal Palace, currently the official residence of the President of Italy.

But it wasn't just about the grand performance. Before the show, I had the chance to pop into a cute little ballet boutique near the opera house, just a stones' throw away from the city centre's vibrant and charming Trevi Fountain. Of course, I couldn't resist adding a new pair of pink pointe shoes to my collection - Rome was already feeling so magical!

Rome By Night: Lights, Music, and a Sprinkle of Magic

Rome comes alive at night. The warm Italian evenings offer a chance to wander through cobbled streets illuminated by romantic streetlights, the air alive with the scent of freshly baked bread from local bakeries. After my ballet shop splurge, I made my way towards the famous Spanish Steps, where I witnessed a local street performer putting on a mesmerising juggling act.

I was captivated by his skilled tricks - there was something almost ballet-like to the way he moved, and of course, I couldn't resist offering him a few euros for his beautiful display. You know, some things just feel right!

The Foodie Delights of Rome

Let's be real - no trip to Rome is complete without indulging in the incredible food scene! The flavours, the smells, the atmosphere - everything about the Roman culinary experience is simply divine. On my first night, I sampled some of the most delicious pasta carbonara and tiramisu I've ever tasted. (And I've had a lot of both, let me tell you!)

To ensure a good balance to my diet, and to keep that energy level going for all my dancing and exploring, I indulged in fruit platters with slices of watermelon, melon and pineapple, always adding in some green salad to keep my vegetarian palate satisfied. This is, of course, coupled with lots and lots of pink prosecco!

I've also made a note to visit the Testaccio district, known for its amazing markets. I heard they sell the most exquisite artisan food. Can't wait to check it out!

Making Rome More Pink: My Pink Tutu Challenge

Now, as you all know, my goal is to spread the love of pink tutus around the world. So, naturally, I couldn't let a trip to Rome pass without adding my personal pink tutu flair.

One thing that really struck me was that Roman locals have so much joie de vivre. They embrace life with gusto, laughing easily and having a wonderful time together. This infectious energy was truly inspiring, and it reminded me that pink tutus should be about having fun and expressing your unique self!

To bring a little pink joy to Rome, I decided to challenge myself to wear my pink tutu for one whole day of sightseeing. It wasn't easy convincing myself, as it can be so intimidating to stand out from the crowd!

I planned my outfit for the day: a flowing pastel pink skirt, with my pink tutu, and topped it all off with my favourite pink glittery ballet shoes. And as the sun began to rise on the day, I embraced the pinkest version of myself with the largest smile imaginable, ready to twirl through the iconic ancient Roman streets!

The reactions from other people were definitely varied! There were a few confused stares, and a few giggles, but I also got loads of happy smiles, lots of "bellissima" exclamations and a few photos with happy passers-by!

I think one particular moment sums it all up. While I was strolling past the beautiful Trevi Fountain (don't worry, I did throw in my coin, just like everyone else, and I will return!) I bumped into a group of little girls wearing tutus for a ballet performance. I felt such a kinship with them, and it was so touching to see how passionate they were about dance.

So, I joined them for a little spontaneous dance session, and we all twirled around in a kaleidoscope of pink, the perfect combination of Italian flair and English ballet love! In that moment, I felt so connected to these girls, to my love for ballet, and to the incredible magic that Rome brings.

Stay tuned for more Roman Adventures...

Well, my darling tutufied followers, that's all for this week's post! It's only been a few days, but I'm already falling in love with Rome's rich history, captivating beauty, and fantastic food.

Next week, I'll be sharing more adventures - from exploring ancient Roman ruins to catching another ballet performance and of course, exploring the vibrant Roman fashion scene. There will be a new challenge, I'll share a bit more about my travel tips for Rome, and of course, I'll keep you updated on all the pink tutu antics I get up to!

Until then, remember to keep twirling, stay positive, and be as fabulous as you can be.

And remember, my darlings, you can wear a pink tutu too!

Love,

Emma xx
