Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome, where the sun is shining, the gelato is flowing, and the Colosseum is practically beckoning me to twirl! This is your Wednesday dose of pink-tutu-tastic adventures from the Eternal City, and this week I'm absolutely bursting with excitement because we're diving into one of the things I love most: ballet!
Today's blog post is all about the spectacular ballet show I just witnessed at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma – absolutely divine! The programme was a stunning mix of classical and modern choreography, the dancers were breathtaking, and I felt like I was transported to a world of pure artistry. Of course, I was feeling incredibly chic in my latest pink tutu find (you guys have to see this feather trim! I'm thinking about styling it for a picnic in the Borghese Gardens!) but the real magic of the evening was watching the ballerinas take to the stage with such grace, power, and emotion.
Speaking of styling, this city is such a feast for the eyes when it comes to fashion! My little heart is literally bursting with the desire to purchase absolutely everything - those chic leather jackets at the vintage boutique in Trastevere, the vibrant scarves draped in shop windows near the Pantheon, the stylish flats and espadrilles I've spotted on practically every chic Roman woman... Oh my, the shopping! I'm trying to restrain myself for now because I have a secret mission: to make all of Rome embrace the pink tutu. It may sound ambitious, but I think I just need to find the right shop with the perfect tutus to show off. Perhaps I'll start by gifting a few to my favourite Roman cafe baristas. Let's see if I can transform this stylish city into a haven of pink!
And, just to remind you lovely people: it's a big ol' yes from this pink tutu enthusiast for ballet shows! Even if you're not a hardcore ballerina like me, just the raw energy and beauty of a live performance is enough to make you swoon. So, my fellow tutu lovers, grab your ballet shoes (pink, of course!) and get ready to immerse yourself in the magical world of dance. You might just find yourself falling in love with ballet all over again.
Speaking of loving things... have I mentioned how much I love travelling by train? This week, I took a scenic trip out of the city to the charming town of Tivoli, known for its cascading waterfalls and stunning gardens. The journey was pure bliss, complete with stunning views of the countryside. Just me, my trusty pink tutu suitcase, and a window seat overlooking vineyards and olive groves – pure magic!
Let's rewind back to that gorgeous ballet show. The music was so beautiful it transported me right into the heart of the performance. I must say, though, even with my usual Pink Tutu charm and vibrant outfit, I still found myself feeling a little out of place amongst the more formal attire. The audience here in Rome takes their ballet very seriously! Which brings me to my little pink confession...* I had to leave my sparkly pink tutus at home this trip!* Just couldn't make them fit into the luggage! But fear not, dear readers, I've already found a gorgeous local shop brimming with tulle and glitter. Just waiting for that perfect day to add some Pink Tutu flair to my Italian adventures!
Before I head off to a new set of Italian adventures, I just have to tell you all about a little surprise I'm planning. My fabulous friend Alice and I have booked a private lesson with a professional ballerina – imagine learning a classic waltz in the heart of Rome! You know this is going to be an epic Instagram post – pink tutus, sunshine, and some serious ballet moves? Oh, the possibilities are endless!
