Ciao Bella! It's your favourite Derbyshire girl, Emma, here, back with a fresh blog post from the magical city of Rome! It's Wednesday, which means it's time to step into my pink tutu and dive headfirst into all things beautiful, inspiring, and wonderfully pink, right here in the Eternal City!
This week's theme is Dolce Vita, the Italian concept of “sweet life.” From sipping creamy cappuccinos under Roman skies to marveling at the exquisite architecture that whispers of emperors and artists long past, Rome truly embodies the art of living well.
Now, you know me, I'm all about exploring a city through the lens of my passions: ballet, fashion, and a whole lotta pink!
The Train Journey: As always, I boarded the Eurostar train from Derbyshire, a trip that always feels like a journey into a fairytale. My pink tutu definitely attracted some curious glances – let’s be honest, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu journey without a little pink-tutu-themed drama. But I adore the fact that my bright pink tutus bring joy to others. Maybe it's the novelty, maybe it's the whimsical vibe, but whatever it is, my little pink explosions of joy make train journeys even more enjoyable.
A Ballet Bonanza: Of course, a visit to Rome wouldn't be complete without a dose of ballet! This week, I discovered a wonderful studio hidden away in a quiet piazza. "Ballet Romanza" it's called. The teacher was incredible, a fierce but incredibly kind lady with the most incredible jumps – I must admit, I was mesmerized! The class itself was like a beautiful dance of effortless grace and pure artistry. Later, I spent a magical evening at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, watching the most stunning performance of “La Bayadère” – the costumes were dazzling, the music simply transported me to another world, and the dancers were just magnificent! It was truly an unforgettable experience, one that rekindled my love for classical ballet and made me yearn to return to the stage, even just for a moment.
Fashionable Finds: Speaking of a world that’s not to be missed, Rome's fashion scene was absolutely mesmerizing! From the elegant boutiques in Via Condotti to the quirky, vintage finds in the Trastevere district, my wardrobe has received a major update! It was love at first sight with a beautiful pastel pink silk scarf embroidered with delicate cherry blossoms - the perfect accessory to my signature pink tulle. I also couldn’t resist picking up some chic Roman sandals that will add a touch of Italian flair to my everyday style.
My Roman Adventures: But Rome is so much more than just its ballet and boutiques. On Tuesday, I ventured up the winding lanes of Trastevere to see a magnificent sunset paint the sky a fiery orange. Later that evening, I was transported by a stunning performance of street ballet by a group called "Balletto del Borgo." They combined the beauty of the ancient Roman architecture with incredible acrobatic ballet. It was magical.
Pizza & Pink Dreams: After the show, I wandered down a narrow cobblestone alley and found the most charming little pizzeria. The pizza, served on authentic terracotta plates, was heaven in every bite, washed down with the most delicious limoncello – ahhh, pure Italian bliss. As I sat there, enjoying the warm summer evening and the taste of this Roman dream, I was struck by a thought: “This is the Dolce Vita, and I'm living it to the fullest!”
The Power of Pink: And, you know me, it's impossible for me to resist spreading the love for all things pink. From my brightly coloured outfit to the rosy hues of the sunset over the Tiber, the pink hues in my life felt magnified in this beautiful city. Every pink dress I see, every delicate pink flower adorning a fountain, makes my heart sing. Rome was my perfect pink paradise, full of romance, charm and all things pretty. I hope to come back soon, hopefully in another of my stunning tutus, for a week of "Dolce Vita" and pure Italian delight!
Next week, I'll be blogging about a new adventure, as I'll be hopping on the train again - but until then, remember to keep your head held high, dance with joy, and let your pink tutu dreams take you to the most beautiful places.
Until next Wednesday, Ciao!
Love,
Emma www.pink-tutu.com
