The weather is warming up, the birds are singing, and there’s something magical about the air that makes me want to twirl, twirl, twirl! But you know what else makes me want to twirl? New tutus, obviously! So, for all you fellow ballet bunnies out there, grab your shopping bags and your biggest smiles, because we’re going tutu shopping in Dunstable!
Now, I know what you’re thinking: Dunstable? Isn't it all… well… windmills and the Chilterns? Yes, yes it is, but believe me, hidden amongst those picturesque fields is a treasure trove of ballet boutiques just waiting to be discovered!

The staff here are absolutely lovely and always happy to offer advice and help you find the perfect fit. You might even find some pre-owned tutus for a bargain, perfect if you're a bargain hunter like me! And, because let’s face it, everyone loves a bit of pink, they also stock a fantastic range of adorable ballet-themed merchandise, like pretty hair accessories and cute ballet bags.
2. Dunstable Dance Centre:
Don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior - this place is a ballet haven! Tucked away in a little backstreet, Dunstable Dance Centre has everything a ballet dancer could need, and their selection of tutus is definitely top-notch! They’re known for having really well-made tutus, even some lovely handmade ones, and their prices are incredibly reasonable. Plus, the staff here are super friendly and passionate about ballet. They genuinely want to help you find the perfect tutu for your dancing needs, which I think is really important.
3. Ballet World:
A little bit further afield, but well worth the journey if you’re serious about your tutus, Ballet World in Luton is a dream come true! This boutique feels like walking into a magical world of dance, with sparkly tutus in every colour imaginable lining the walls. They have the largest selection of tutu designs I’ve seen in the area, and their tutus are of the highest quality, made with premium fabrics. Their collection also boasts the latest ballet fashion trends, with everything from modern to romantic and classic styles.
4. The Dancewear Shoppe:
For those on a budget, the Dancewear Shoppe is a fantastic place to find great deals. They stock a huge variety of balletwear, and their selection of tutus is extensive and affordable. You might need to dig a little to find the perfect one for you, but if you have a keen eye and patience, you can find some amazing hidden gems! Plus, they're open really late, which is super handy if you need to grab a last minute tutu before class!
5. The Online Boutique:
And lastly, but definitely not least, the online world! Websites like "Dancers.co.uk" and "My Ballet Boutique" are incredibly convenient for those who prefer to browse at their leisure and shop from the comfort of their own homes. You'll be spoilt for choice online with tutus from every imaginable style and colour.
