Nottingham: A Ballet Shopaholic’s Guide
Hey dancers, I'm back with another post, and this time I'm tackling a topic near and dear to my heart: where to find the perfect ballet outfit in Nottingham! I've lived in this fab city for a while, and have scoured the shops high and low for the best dancewear.
So, let's get to it, shall we?
Lace Market Area
- The Dancewear Boutique: This is a must-visit, nestled right in the Lace Market area, and their selection is incredible. I've found stunning leotards in the most amazing colours, tights with unique details, and their ballet shoes? Top notch! They stock a great range of brands and have really helpful staff who know their stuff.
- Blooming Marvellous: If you're after some extra flair, check out this independent boutique near the corner of Long Row and Bridlesmith Gate. They’re not strictly dancewear, but you can definitely find cute dresses and tops that are perfect for a class or rehearsal. Their vintage vibe and statement pieces will make you stand out in a good way.
- Next: Don’t underestimate the basics! You'll always find a great selection of leotards and tights, often with trendy patterns and prints, for a good price in Next on the corner of Market Square. Perfect if you're on a budget or just need a new staple for your wardrobe.
- M&S: Another one for the essentials! M&S in the city centre has a surprisingly good selection of ballet shoes. You might need to check the website first to see if they’re in stock as sometimes their dancewear range can be a bit hit and miss, but they're worth checking out!
- John Lewis: If you want to splurge a bit on luxurious dancewear, John Lewis on the corner of Long Row and Carrington Street is your spot! Their sportswear department always has amazing high-quality brands and their customer service is fantastic, they’re worth the extra £!
- Holland & Barrett: They have everything from vitamins for a dance-boost to protein shakes for that extra fuel. They are also brilliant for the vegan, organic, eco-friendly dancers. Find a branch across the city centre!
- Savers/Poundland: Let’s be honest, you'll need plenty of hair ties! And when you've been at the barre, sometimes a cute headband comes in handy too. Pick up the basic dance necessities for under a quid in these discount shops across the city.
