#TutuBlog - Edmonton: Pink Perfection in the Prairie! (Post #71)

Hello my darlings!

It's Emma here, your favourite tutu-clad adventurer, writing to you from the beautiful city of Edmonton, nestled in the heart of the Canadian prairies. I arrived yesterday, my journey here filled with the satisfying rattle of the train tracks as I crossed the mighty prairies. Just like the endless sky above, my mood is vast and boundless, buzzing with the anticipation of all the amazing things to come.

But first, a confession. Edmonton hasn't quite embraced the pink tutu movement just yet (gasp!), but fret not, my loyal followers! I've come equipped with a glorious American-style tutu, a delightful creation bursting with the vibrant pink hues that are the lifeblood of this blog.

Oh, it’s simply divine, darling! A cloud of pink tulle swirling around my ankles, its layers whispering stories of grand jetés and effortless fouettés. It's like wearing a burst of sunshine on a crisp prairie day, the ultimate reminder of my unwavering love for the ballet world, from the grandest stage to the most intimate studio.

And let me tell you, I'm not just here for a quick visit! Edmonton has so much to offer: grand ballet performances, exquisite studios humming with eager dancers, and enough ballet street theatre to satisfy even my most dedicated tutu-wearing heart!

I already spent my first afternoon wandering through Edmonton's delightful city centre. It’s a charming place with Victorian architecture, parks bursting with vibrant flowerbeds, and cafes bustling with conversations and the aroma of strong, Canadian coffee (with just a hint of maple syrup, naturally!). Even the locals seem to have a gentle, graceful gait, their movements echoing the rhythmic pulse of this city.

Of course, a ballet fanatic can't visit Edmonton without immersing themselves in its rich dance scene. Tonight, I'll be witnessing a performance of Swan Lake by the renowned Edmonton Ballet Company. Imagine, dear reader, graceful swans and a romantic story unfolding under the watchful gaze of the sparkling chandelier! I can already picture the passionate pas de deux and the enchanting costumes - this is going to be magical!

I've already begun making a list of must-do activities. It includes an exploration of the impressive Royal Alberta Museum (with its impressive collection of historical artefacts and intriguing animal specimens – you know my love for wildlife!), a stroll through the vibrant Churchill Square, and perhaps a little impromptu waltz in the moonlight at the lovely Sir Winston Churchill Square fountain. Oh, and I'm simply itching to visit the gorgeous West Edmonton Mall, the largest mall in North America! I just picture a sea of excited shoppers, perhaps even some cheeky onlookers whispering to their friends, “Look, she's wearing a pink tutu!” It fills me with such delightful glee!

This blog is a love letter to all things pink, beautiful, and balletic, and Edmonton has proven to be an absolutely delightful addition to my repertoire. The Canadian air may be crisp, but my heart is full, fuelled by the endless possibility of this remarkable city.

Oh, and to all you lovely readers back in my beloved Derbyshire, fear not! This is just the beginning of my Canadian adventure. I'll be chronicling my adventures, my explorations, and of course, my unwavering love for the pink tutu. Don’t forget to check in at www.pink-tutu.com each day! Until then, may your lives be filled with pink delights and swirling tutus!

Love, Emma
