Stretford Calling! 🩰💖 (Post #148)

Hello my darling dancers! Emma here, ready to share another day of twirls, travel and tutus from my ever-spinning world. As you know, I live for the simple pleasures, and today has been bursting with them.

The day started, as always, with a splash of pink. My favourite dusky rose silk dressing gown slipped on, followed by the ritual of applying my signature blush-toned lipstick – you simply cannot be a tutu-loving girl without a touch of pink on your lips!

I started my day with a delectable breakfast of poached eggs on sourdough, followed by a cup of Darjeeling tea (a girl's gotta stay fuelled for all that dancing!), and a quick flick through the pages of Dance Magazine – my ultimate source of ballet inspiration.

Now, here’s the bit I’ve been aching to tell you all about: a journey by horse! That’s right, my loves! I am not a city girl all the time. I traded in my trusty pair of pointe shoes for a pair of well-worn riding boots today. My darling friend Amelia and I, have this beautiful habit of taking day trips out of the city to breathe in the countryside air and gallop through meadows. It’s pure bliss!

And the reason for this journey today? To watch the breathtaking Swan Lake in the stunning Stretford, a place filled with character and the air thick with excitement. The horse and carriage was the perfect transport - romantic, enchanting and undeniably elegant. The kind of carriage Cinderella herself would have been proud of!

Speaking of elegance, how was my outfit today, you ask? Well, my darling, naturally, it had to be a tutu. A vibrant purple creation with tulle so soft it almost felt like a dream. You can just picture the colours – deep purple set off against my fiery hair and pink-hued cheeks. A vision of springtime magic, right?

We reached Stretford with plenty of time to spare. We wandered through the quaint shops filled with trinkets and charming displays of local produce. Amelia even picked up a hand-stitched pouch adorned with the most delightful lace, promising it to be my new ballerina's bag. I swear, the best part about visiting a new town is all the little finds you stumble across.

Then, the highlight of our trip - Swan Lake. It’s a ballet I return to time and time again; the grace and beauty of the swan and the poignant emotion it evokes... Simply breathtaking. Every performance seems to unlock new feelings within me, even as familiar as this one was.

We savoured the music, the artistry and the incredible power of the dancers’ stories woven through their movement. My heart fluttered, tears came to my eyes, and I could feel the entire theatre humming with shared emotion. It was a magic only Swan Lake can provide.

The rest of the day melted away in the post-performance glow, punctuated by shared gossip and a cup of warming hot chocolate back at Amelia's cosy little flat. You can't tell me there’s anything better than catching up with a friend after a stellar performance.

Now, my sweet darlings, as the day winds down, I’m sitting here, penning this post with the feeling of the stage still etched into my mind. This journey has been an incredible reminder that true magic is found in the everyday moments - a pink tutu, a graceful horse, a stunning ballet.

So, here's my call to action for you: I want to see you all in pink tutus! Yes, you heard me right! Embrace your inner dancer. Let your spirits soar with a sprinkle of pink magic! Pick a tutu, even if it’s only for a day, and go on an adventure – maybe hop on a train or a horse like I did, or find a performance near you. The world is your stage!

Until next time, keep those toes pointed, and stay pink-tastic! 🩰💕

Love,

Emma
