Greenford Calling! #150

Hey, darlings! Emma here, reporting live from…drumroll please…Greenford! Yes, you heard that right, Greenford, a suburb of London, which is a million miles from my Derbyshire home, but a place with so much charm it feels like home already. And the best part? A little dance studio tucked away just a hop and a skip from my gorgeous pink Airbnb!

This journey to Greenford started, as always, on a train. Oh, the magic of train travel! I settled into my seat, wearing my newest tutu - a lavender creation with silver sparkles that catches the sun like a million tiny rainbows. The conductor gave me a smile, which he probably thought was directed at him, but was really for my tutu! Then the countryside scenery, so green and peaceful, gave way to the bustling streets of London, and before I knew it, Greenford was calling.

Now, I wouldn’t be Emma from www.pink-tutu.com if I wasn’t searching for some pink fabulousness in Greenford. I spotted the most darling shop in the town centre - "Tilly’s Boutique". Imagine a vintage shop overflowing with everything girly, everything sparkly, and most importantly, everything pink. It’s basically a pink-tutu dream come true!

Of course, I just had to browse (and, let’s be honest, shop!). I snagged a gorgeous vintage pink cardigan with beaded tassels that perfectly complements my tutu, plus a delicate lace scarf in a pale, blush pink that will go with literally everything in my wardrobe. And what’s a ballet dancer without the right accessories? I couldn't leave Tilly's Boutique without these incredible pearly pink earrings that made me feel like a vintage ballerina.

Speaking of ballerinas, after a little "pink therapy", it was off to the Greenford Dance Studio. You have to admit, it’s not the most exciting place name, but this studio…it was bursting with energy and life! I was instantly surrounded by the sound of shoes tapping on wooden floors and the beautiful, lyrical movements of graceful bodies.

I joined a class focusing on classical ballet and the warm-up felt as good as a cup of chai on a rainy day. You’ll never catch me complaining about a ballet warm-up – it’s just like stretching my soul, you know? It gets the blood pumping and the endorphins flowing while you stretch and feel the music within.

The class itself was delightful. We moved through a series of barre work with the precision of a well-choreographed dance piece. The feeling of my legs and core working together in perfect harmony was truly blissful. It felt like my inner ballerina was finally coming to life after months of waiting.

Now, after an hour of ballet, it was time for a much needed afternoon tea! It wouldn't be a trip to Greenford without indulging in a spot of afternoon tea and a slice of pink cake. Luckily, the cafe near the studio served up a truly lovely Victoria sponge, perfectly decorated with pink icing and fresh raspberries.

Did I mention this was a green and peaceful town? After my pink cake, I walked a couple of miles through Greenford Park, a beautiful haven full of lush green trees and a tranquil lake. It felt like I'd stumbled into a fairy tale in the middle of a busy suburban town. The air was crisp and fresh, and the sun warmed my face as I wandered the footpaths, taking it all in. Even the ducks were having a splendid time, bobbing around the water and gossiping with each other, no doubt sharing the latest fashion news in the duck world. (Ducks, I've found, are extremely fashionable, even sporting some cute little pink feathers, very on-trend! ).

In the evening, it was back to my darling pink Airbnb (and no, it’s not pink in a bright, shocking shade, more of a delicate pastel pink, you know? It’s the little things! ), and of course, I had to catch up on my favorite ballerina vloggers before falling asleep to dreams of tutus and graceful pirouettes.

My time in Greenford is quickly drawing to a close. I can’t wait to explore more of this beautiful country - next stop, a charming coastal town that’s only a few train stops away, and, you guessed it, it has its very own ballet school and an even more fabulous vintage shop… with the promise of a seafront horse-drawn carriage ride that I will document with every last twirling tutu detail.

Until next time, darlings. Stay beautiful, stay fabulous, and never stop dreaming in pink!
