Urmston, 14th December 1996: Pink Tutu Power in the North!
Post number 164
Hiya, lovely dancers! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, Emma, back with another delightful post! Today I'm writing to you from Urmston, a quaint little town nestled somewhere between Manchester and Cheshire, somewhere with that uniquely charming, 'I'm not sure if I'm in the city or the countryside' vibe that I adore.
And guess what? I'm rocking my brand new, sparkly pink tutu. Yes, you read that right! This bad boy has so many sequins that I can literally see my reflection in it, it's practically a mirror! (Sorry to all the cars behind me on the train; I might have been blinded momentarily by my own awesomeness).
Now, some of you know my journey. For those of you who are just joining the party, let me introduce myself - Emma, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu ambassador. I'm a ballerina (of course!), originally from Derbyshire, with a love for all things pink, fluffy and utterly enchanting. Ballet, travelling, and spreading the gospel of pink tutus is my jam. And yes, I love a good horse ride too! What's a ballerina without a bit of grace and poise, right?
Urmston's a bit of a surprise, you know? I always think of the North as being a bit... gruff. But this little town is all charming brick houses, adorable cafes and a seriously amazing ballet school (more about that later!). My adventures here started this morning, when I arrived in the quaint little town by train (the only way to travel, let me tell you!). A gentle chugging, a panoramic view of the rolling countryside... and a few curious stares at the magnificent, pink-tutu clad vision of loveliness, naturally. I guess not everyone is blessed to have my fashion sense!
First up was a spot of tea in a cafe that served a divine slice of cake. You see, there’s this unwritten rule: cake is essential for any ballerina’s nutrition plan. No? Don’t judge, I have my own nutrition rules! I can’t divulge them all, darling! (It involves quite a lot of chocolate... which is totally fine!) Anyway, then it was off to explore Urmston's unique blend of shops, charming cobbled streets and stunning Victorian architecture - everything a pink tutu lover could ask for!
Speaking of amazing things, this town also boasts a ballet school like no other! You could hear the sound of twirling pirouettes and soaring leaps coming from inside the studio, practically an orchestra in its own right! It just made me so giddy! The teachers there have actually offered me to take a class! Now, how amazing is that? I mean, anyone who knows me knows I love a good ballet class! Especially in a town I haven’t visited before. And in this amazing, little-known, magical place! How exciting! I can't wait to feel the burn in my calves (the good kind, of course) and stretch my aching muscles (not a real thing, it just felt like a good ballerina quote!). Who knows? Maybe they'll get me doing some pointe work! That would be something to write home about, wouldn't it?
As I'm sitting here, in my trusty little notebook, writing about my adventures, I can't help but think about how the beauty of ballet seems to seep into everything. The delicate swirls of the ivy on the old houses, the vibrant colors of the flower boxes, the sheer joy of a passerby enjoying a stroll through the town with a big smile on their face - it’s all so reminiscent of the elegant movements, the artistry, the grace that ballet embodies.
Let me tell you, my dear dancers, life's an amazing journey when you're wearing a pink tutu. It's all about finding joy in the simple things, embracing the unexpected and sharing a love for all things beautiful. Maybe, just maybe, one day you'll even join me in donning your own pink tutu and dancing your way through life. It's never too late to learn how to dance, and trust me, it's far more rewarding than a mundane existence without a pink tutu.
But this adventure isn’t over yet! The day's not finished until I’ve explored the town centre's gorgeous little shops and experienced the magical glow of the setting sun turning the brick facades of the buildings a fiery orange.
And then, you see, there’s this special, tiny tea shop with a secret garden - a hidden oasis that's said to be the most enchanting place in Urmston. Oh, don’t you wish you were here with me? The aroma of freshly brewed tea mingling with the sweet fragrance of flowers - I just know it’s going to be another breathtaking experience! I will, of course, let you all know the tea shop's secret. But you’ll have to promise not to tell anyone…
Stay tuned for the rest of my adventure in Urmston and many more delightful pink tutu-infused escapades coming your way, right here at www.pink-tutu.com. Until then, keep dancing, keep smiling and keep wearing pink tutus! You never know who you might inspire!
