Hitchin Hooray! Pink Tutu Adventures in the Home Counties (Post #202)

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back with another adventure from my little pink world! Today, I'm venturing into the heart of Hertfordshire, a charming county I've always wanted to explore. And what better way to do it than with a bright pink tutu, of course! 😉

This gorgeous tutu, by the way, is a new addition to my collection – a vibrant bubblegum pink, practically bursting with energy. It’s giving me major prima ballerina vibes, perfect for my explorations of all things quaint and historic in Hitchin.

Now, the journey there was pure joy. I traded my trusty bicycle for a beautiful old-fashioned carriage pulled by two magnificent Shire horses, all decked out in polished brass and feathers. It was like stepping straight out of a fairy tale – the breeze, the sound of the horse's hooves, and the delightful rhythm of the carriage bumping along the cobblestone streets…pure bliss!

Hitchin's Hidden Gems:

Once in Hitchin, the first thing that struck me was its undeniable charm. This is a town brimming with history, beautifully preserved buildings, and an atmosphere that's both bustling and laid-back. We're talking cobbled alleyways lined with independent shops, delightful cafés serving up the best clotted cream tea, and hidden squares just waiting to be discovered.

Naturally, my first stop was the Hitchin Museum, a gorgeous 15th-century building housing all sorts of fascinating exhibits about the town's history. I learnt about the iconic Hitchin Lavender fields, the town's once-thriving hat industry, and the amazing Hitchin Priory, a grand manor house I'll be visiting tomorrow!

The "Ballet" in My Steps:

I couldn't resist sneaking in a ballet class at the Hitchin Dance Academy, a little gem tucked away in a quiet corner of town. The class was filled with passionate dancers, their steps flowing with such elegance and grace. It reminded me why I love ballet so much – the pure expression, the focus, the connection to your body, and of course, the beautiful tutus!

The instructor, Mrs. Davies, was lovely – so welcoming and encouraging. She even let me join in with the intermediate class, where we practiced some complex turns and leaps. My pirouettes may not have been quite as polished as theirs, but my enthusiasm was definitely in full bloom!

Sharing the Tutu Love:

One thing I love about exploring new places is sharing the joy with everyone I meet. So, naturally, I had to bring out my trusty "pink tutu" charm. I donned it at the Hitchin market, making a beeline for the freshest strawberries, talking to the market stall owners, and of course, striking a pose for the surprised but amused locals.

One delightful elderly gentleman even confessed he hadn't seen a tutu in years, a statement that instantly sparked a delightful conversation about the power of pink tutus and the magical world of ballet! He promised to watch a performance with his granddaughter, so who knows, maybe this tiny spark will light up a passion for ballet in the future.

Hitchin By Twilight:

After a delicious afternoon tea at a little bakery near the church, I set off on a sunset walk through Hitchin's leafy streets. The golden glow of the setting sun casting long shadows across the quaint buildings was simply breathtaking. It reminded me of the enchanting ballet scenes where the light and the shadows dance together, creating moments of magical beauty.

I'm leaving Hitchin with a full heart, a wardrobe full of memories, and a suitcase brimming with delicious treats for my friends back home in Derbyshire.

From Hitchin to The World:

Remember darlings, this is just a small slice of my adventures. Every day is an opportunity to dance, explore, and share the magic of a bright pink tutu. Don't be afraid to embrace the world with a little bit of pink in your heart, a touch of ballet in your steps, and a willingness to spread a bit of joy wherever you go.

Until next time,

Your pink-loving blogger,

Emma.

P.S. I’ll be posting pictures from my Hitchin adventures on www.pink-tutu.com all week. Be sure to follow along, and maybe, just maybe, I’ll even see you wearing your pink tutu soon! 🩰 💖 💕
