Frome: Where the River Meets the Tutu (Post #233)

Hello darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, back with another instalment from the road! Today's adventure took me to the charming little town of Frome, nestled in the beautiful Somerset countryside. Now, I'm not going to lie, the journey involved a little more hopping and skipping than I'm used to – a lovely old-fashioned horse-drawn carriage! I felt like I was in a fairytale, and I may or may not have used this opportunity to practice some pliés on the carriage steps, much to the amusement of the driver (and possibly the other passengers).

Anyway, after a scenic trip (and several 'look at that cute cow' exclamations!), I arrived in Frome ready to spread a little pink tutu magic. Frome has this wonderful bohemian vibe, and the quaint cobblestone streets were lined with charming little shops bursting with colourful handmade treasures. I immediately fell in love with the quirky artisan feel of the place!

Speaking of colourful, you can imagine how my heart skipped a beat when I stumbled upon the most enchanting vintage clothing store, full of treasures from a bygone era. My dear readers, it was like a fashionista's dreamland! While I found a few beautiful silk scarves to add to my collection, the pièce de résistance was a glorious vintage, bright pink silk tutu! I just knew it was destined for a grand entrance at the Frome Arts Centre, where I was headed for an evening of theatrical delights.

Now, for someone who has always had a soft spot for all things pink, walking into the Frome Arts Centre wearing a pink tutu was a little bit of pure magic. The atmosphere inside the centre buzzed with excited chatter as patrons lined up for the evening performance of "Alice in Wonderland."

And my darlings, the performance was truly incredible! I swear, I could hear the collective gasp of the audience as the Cheshire Cat took to the stage in a vibrant, whimsical costume. The choreography was captivating, the costumes breathtaking, and the entire theatre seemed to come alive with the enchantment of Wonderland. My fellow ballet fanatics would agree: there's just something truly special about seeing ballet performed in a unique setting like this. It adds a touch of unexpectedness and truly brings the story to life.

Later that evening, after the final curtain call, I met with the artistic director of the Frome Arts Centre, who was just as enthusiastic about the power of ballet as I am! We spoke for hours about the importance of making the art form more accessible to everyone, whether through classes, street performances, or, dare I say it, more tutu-clad outings like mine!

There is nothing quite like sharing your love of ballet with others and seeing it spark joy in their eyes. Perhaps it was the magic of the play, the warm atmosphere of Frome, or simply the pure joy of a pink tutu-wearing ballerina, but I truly felt like I had planted some tiny pink seeds of inspiration that day.

Speaking of inspiration, you know how I always say, 'You can't go wrong with a pink tutu'? Well, I truly believe that with a little bit of magic and a lot of confidence, anything is possible. Let's bring some sparkle into the world, darlings! Embrace the pink, wear the tutu, and never stop dancing your heart out.

Until next time, keep twirling!

Love, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
