Derby Delights: Tutu Travels and Pink Power (Post #272)

Hello my gorgeous pink-loving, tutu-touting darlings!

It's Emma here, back with another blog post bursting with pinkness and ballet bliss. Today, I'm in the heart of Derbyshire, my home county! I know, I know, sometimes you might think I'm permanently lost in the dreamy world of Paris, Rome, or some exotic locale, but don't forget, I'm a Derbyshire girl at heart!

I'm visiting my family and of course, couldn't resist bringing my trusty pink tutu along. I can't ever stay away from it for too long, you know? This time, I've been playing the role of the tutu ambassador and encouraging my relatives to embrace the power of a twirl and a pink hue. They weren't quite ready to don full tutus just yet, but you never know! I’ve sown the seed and perhaps next time, my aunt will join me in a pink pirouette!

Derby Dance Delights

One of my favorite things about returning home is the chance to soak in the history and charm of Derbyshire. It’s filled with picturesque villages, rolling hills and – my personal favorite – the stunning Peak District National Park! There are hidden gems around every corner here, just like you find a special hidden detail in a classic ballet!

So, of course, my time in Derby had to involve a visit to Derby Theatre. The theatre is one of those beautiful, historic buildings you simply fall in love with at first glance. I had a wonderful time watching “Sleeping Beauty.” There was the stunning, captivating story, a glorious ensemble, the amazing dancing, the costumes – oh my! Even better, the lead dancer had her hair up in the same perfect ballet bun as I do (a bit of a secret to my look, of course!), and her pointe shoes looked brand new - perfect. The only thing missing? Pink tutus for all! But we are getting there, little by little!

The other amazing ballet spot here? The University of Derby has its own brilliant dance academy. As soon as I arrive back home, I take advantage of their amazing studio to keep my pointe work sharp! This place is so good, it’s even helped launch the careers of professional dancers. In fact, they're celebrating a 10th anniversary, which is brilliant! I've been working up a new little routine for my YouTube channel (a big "Tutu Time" moment coming your way very soon!), and their studios have been a true blessing!

Tutus, Trains & Treats

Speaking of traveling back to my hometown, did I mention how much I adore train journeys? They always feel so romantic and nostalgic, particularly when it comes to arriving in the countryside. This time, I decided to treat myself to a little indulgence – the glorious afternoon tea. And the bonus? It was pink! The beautiful cakes and delicate sandwiches were perfect with a piping hot cuppa. A tutu would’ve gone wonderfully well too, I might say! I may be biased towards tutus, of course.

It is just incredible what the countryside offers for food lovers, and I can’t resist my passion for all the beautiful things in nature!

The Wildest Things in Pink

You know my love for wildlife, so I decided to embark on a little expedition to the Derby Arboretum – a lovely, peaceful sanctuary full of the most beautiful blooms, birds, and nature's beauty. I even saw a cheeky squirrel trying to stash away a pink blossom in his cheek! (Of course, he didn’t know it was from my new hair flower.) He was too adorable!

I have to admit, I thought I might even try wearing my tutu through the Arbo – but I quickly decided that a graceful ballet dancer can be mistaken for a graceful runner at times, especially in an urban arboretum! So instead, I imagined all the little birds wearing their own tiny pink tutus and the bees dancing around the flowers with tiny pink pom poms on their little bee butts!

The Derby Arboretum was so calming! A fantastic break from the chaos of London life (don’t tell my friends!), but it did inspire me to plan my own little picnic next time I come to visit. After all, what's more pink than a basket full of goodies shared amongst friends, under a blossoming pink cherry tree!

Tutu Dreams: Embracing Life in Pink

Now, here's a question for you, dear readers: have you ever worn a pink tutu? And if not, why not! (You can reply to this blog on www.pink-tutu.com.) Think about it! I'm hoping one day everyone will join my tutu movement and find out just how magical a pink tutu can be! You'd be amazed how much fun you'll have twirling around, feeling happy and free, all while spreading the message of pinkness.

Until next time, keep dancing, keep twirling, and stay fabulous in pink!

Yours in Pink and Tutu Bliss,

Emma

xx
