Northampton - Post 276

Hello my darling dancers! 🩰 It's your girl, Emma, back again from another glorious adventure! Today I'm channeling my inner Audrey Hepburn with a divine pancake tutu I picked up at a quaint little boutique in Nottingham yesterday. You know me, I always love to mix up my style – sometimes it's full-on ballet queen, sometimes it's a touch more casual chic!

But let's be honest, you can never go wrong with a fabulous tutu! ✨ This one is a dreamy lilac shade with a hint of glitter, so it's just perfect for a spring day. I paired it with my favourite pair of white ballet pumps (oh, you know how much I adore those!) and a dainty pink cardigan that I got from a vintage shop in Bakewell, which, of course, I'm sure you're all familiar with, is just a stone's throw from my beloved Derbyshire.

My trip to Northampton started yesterday with a charming journey on the train. The carriage windows were framing the most stunning scenery, all dappled sunshine and blooming meadows, which gave me inspiration for my next blog post! Did I mention how much I adore travelling by train? Something about the gentle rhythm and the view gliding past… oh, pure magic! πŸ’–

My day in Northampton was jam-packed with delightful surprises! First, I stumbled upon a little hidden gem called "The Ballerina Boutique" and spent an embarrassing amount of time in there trying on the most beautiful tutus. It was like stepping into a magical fairytale world, filled with every shade and style imaginable! And then there was the stunning new ballet studio I discovered – they had classes in everything from classic barre work to ballet street (so my type of ballet)! I signed myself up for a beginner’s ballet street class, and I'm soooo looking forward to giving it a go tomorrow. It sounds right up my street! πŸ˜‚

Later in the day, I ventured out to explore the historic heart of Northampton. I discovered some real hidden treasures – a quaint little tearoom serving the most scrumptious afternoon tea with scones so soft and light, they were almost ethereal. 🧁 (And obviously, all perfectly pink, naturally! πŸ˜‰)

You know how much I love seeing nature and wildlife. Well, as I wandered through the beautiful parks and gardens, I even got to see a little family of squirrels scampering up and down the trees. Isn't that just the cutest thing ever? 🐿️ (I must have gone a bit "aww, so cute!" at least five times, so I guess that's telling! πŸ˜‚) They were absolutely delightful. They have the most gorgeous little bushy tails and such sweet, cheeky faces – just irresistible! πŸ’– You can see them in the photo I snapped – they seemed utterly enthralled by my sparkly pancake tutu! (Perhaps a little jealous? 🀫).

Now, the highlight of my trip to Northampton, drumroll, was the grand Ballet Theatre performance last night. The show itself was absolutely stunning! I have never seen a more captivating display of artistry, grace, and beauty. You know me, I love those flowing tutus and dazzling costumes. My heart soared with each leap, pirouette, and arabesque. The dancers were truly divine. As much as I adore doing ballet myself, seeing a live performance with that raw, emotional energy makes me appreciate it even more.

And you know what else was great? Every other person was wearing pink, and I'm not just talking about myself! We had everything – pink shoes, pink tops, pink hair clips – even a pink polka-dot umbrella! It was fantastic! πŸ’– My aim in life is to get everyone in the world wearing a pink tutu (although a cute little polka-dot umbrella does seem like a worthy second!)! πŸ˜„

The theatre performance really reminded me that ballet has such power to captivate and inspire people. It made me really want to take all you wonderful readers along on my little pink tutu adventures! Think how great it would be if every person on this planet experienced the wonder and magic of a ballet show! 😍✨

Well, my dears, it's time to head off. Tomorrow’s ballet street class awaits and then back to Derbyshire to give the neighbours a proper show!

Love always, Emma xx
