Colchester Calling! (Post #299) ๐Ÿฉฐ

Hello my darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad travel enthusiast, Emma, here, reporting live from sunny Colchester! ๐Ÿ’– This week has been a whirlwind of pink, pinks, and more pinks - as it should be, of course! I'm here for a spot of ballet-inspired exploration, a little bit of horse riding (my secret vice, don't tell anyone!), and some general good time vibes.

Now, you may be wondering what Colchester has to do with tutus. Well, let me tell you, dear readers, Colchester is like a secret little treasure trove for a tutu-wearing gal like me. The city oozes charm - quaint cobbled streets, historic buildings, and a certain je ne sais quoi that just makes you want to twirl.

Speaking of twirling, I couldn't resist a little photoshoot in the beautiful grounds of Colchester Castle. Imagine, my darling readers, a lush green meadow bathed in golden sunlight, with the ancient castle walls as a backdrop, and me, twirling in my luscious red tutu. It was like a scene straight out of a fairy tale!

Of course, no trip to Colchester would be complete without a visit to the Mercury Theatre. I've been following their ballet productions for years, and this week, they're staging "Giselle". Oh, how I've been longing for a classic! I practically lived and breathed Giselle back in my ballet school days, and I'm thrilled to see it performed here in Colchester. I just know the emotion will be as intoxicating as the costumes!

The theatre itself is a marvel - its grandeur adds to the excitement, especially with my gorgeous red tutu fluttering around me. ๐Ÿ’ƒ Did I mention the stunning floral arrangement in the lobby? It looked as if it'd stepped out of a fairytale, a veritable pink and crimson bouquet just begging for a photo-op. Naturally, I obliged!

After the performance, I made my way to the most charming little cafรฉ just around the corner. Imagine, dear reader, dainty pastries with pink icing, the sweetest pot of tea, and a chat with the cafe owner about our mutual love for vintage tutus - we were fast friends by the end! I told her about Pink Tutu.com, my own little corner of the internet dedicated to all things ballet and fabulousness. I even encouraged her to wear a pink tutu for a day - wouldn't that be divine?

Speaking of tutus, my journey here wouldn't be complete without mentioning my journey on the train. Now, I am a firm believer in making every aspect of life a little bit more fabulous. This is why, my dear readers, I decided to wear my emerald green tutu on the train. Yes, you heard right! Green tutu on a train! A lot of people stared, naturally, but wouldn't you agree that a little flair and fabulousness never hurt anyone? Besides, a tutu always makes the train journey more fun, even when dealing with a slightly-less-than-efficient train timetable.

Before leaving Colchester, I couldn't resist taking a detour to the nearby nature reserve. It's a haven for beautiful butterflies and curious squirrels, perfect for an afternoon of reflection and relaxation. I even got a photo of a little deer family, totally unaware of my majestic red tutu in their midst. They looked utterly adorable, a charming little reminder that there's always a touch of magic to be found in the simplest of things.

Iโ€™m just about ready to board the train back to Derbyshire, but this Colchester adventure has truly filled my heart with joy, and my suitcase with pink (and some red, obviously!). I hope my tales from Colchester inspire you all to embrace your inner twirl, wear your own little pink tutus with pride, and experience the wonder of ballet, both in theatre and on the street! You've got to agree, it really is a fantastic world, brimming with beauty and possibilities.

Keep dancing, my loves!

Lots of love and pink kisses,

Emma xx
