South Shields Sparkle: Tutu Tales #342

Hey lovelies! Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to South Shields, and oh my goodness, was it a treat! Remember how I said my dream was to see the world in a pink tutu? Well, South Shields was definitely a dream come true!

Now, this little coastal town might not be the first place that pops into your head when you think 'ballet', but trust me, it was bursting with possibilities! It felt like a completely different world from my little Derbyshire village - think seaside charm, bustling markets, and a hint of historical magic. And, as you know, I can’t resist a bit of history.

I'm absolutely in love with travelling by train - it's like stepping into a storybook, especially when you have a window seat. The journey was an adventure all its own. I spotted a whole family of deer grazing by the tracks, so graceful and peaceful! I swear, they inspired my next barre routine – graceful leaps and all!

Of course, no journey is complete without the perfect outfit. Now, my black tutu is my go-to travel companion, with a splash of pink to brighten things up – a little pink silk scarf, a delicate pink rose tucked into my hair. You wouldn’t catch me wearing anything else! I always like to blend in, yet stand out - it's about striking that perfect balance, don’t you think?

And wouldn't you know it, the black tutu became a real talking point in South Shields! I received so many curious smiles and excited "hellos" – I guess even in a small town, a girl in a tutu never goes unnoticed.

The highlight of my trip was undoubtedly the ballet performance at the South Shields Little Theatre. The venue was absolutely charming – think warm wooden floors, flickering stage lights, and the scent of popcorn wafting in the air. They were doing Swan Lake, and the whole performance was just incredible. It took my breath away.

Now, I don’t just love going to watch professional ballet shows; I love getting my own feet moving. Luckily, there’s a little ballet studio nestled right in the heart of South Shields. The teacher was delightful, and we had the most wonderful time dancing away. Even if it was a tad more “barre-lesque” than usual - that's what I like to call my funny attempts at fancy steps!

Of course, after all the pirouettes and arabesques, it was time for some traditional South Shields fun. The beach was just breathtaking! With my tutu safely tucked away in my travel bag, I took a lovely walk along the shore, breathing in the salty sea air. It felt amazing, a perfect end to a perfect day! I even saw a few brave souls doing a bit of paddleboarding, making the whole place feel more magical.

My South Shields adventure wasn't all ballet, though. I got to try some amazing fish and chips (did you know it's their favourite dish?), and visit the incredible National Museum of the Royal Navy. The ships were simply majestic!

Now, I know what you’re thinking: why not wear pink? Pink tutu, pink hair, everything pink! Well, my dears, sometimes the best stories are told with subtle details – a dash of colour here, a shimmer there. Like my little black tutu, my blog is a journey of discovery - sometimes elegant, sometimes adventurous, sometimes a bit offbeat. But always stylish and, most importantly, fun.

So, remember, you can wear a tutu and twirl through life, embrace adventure, discover new things, and find beauty in the everyday. Just like me. Just be you, my lovelies!

Love, Emma xx
