TutuBlog Post #363: Feltham – A Whirlwind of Pink and Puddings!
Hello darlings! Emma here, reporting live from Feltham! Yes, you heard me right, Feltham! Who would have thought I’d be writing about this charming little town, just a hop, skip and a jump from the bright lights of London? But here I am, my tutu twirling like a sugar plum in the sunshine, ready to share another delightful day of pink, puddings, and (of course!) ballet.
This morning, the call of the rails led me on a romantic journey from my beloved Derbyshire to Feltham. There's nothing quite like watching the English countryside rush by, especially when you're wrapped in a beautiful pink tulle tutu! (Let’s face it, my wardrobe is primarily pink with a healthy sprinkling of silver for a little glamour.) My fellow passengers certainly took notice, with a few shy smiles and an enthusiastic "Good Morning!" or two. Spreading the love of ballet, one tutu at a time – it's my mission!
Feltham itself has a sweet charm to it, all quaint little streets and blooming flower boxes. And I am on a mission, of course – not to mention absolutely bursting with inspiration for a brand new tutu creation. This one is going to have a touch of whimsy, a dash of decadence, and an unmistakably pink theme, inspired by the afternoon tea I'm about to enjoy! Yes, you read that right – I've heard whispers about a delectable bakery, ‘The Sugarplum’ and let me tell you, a girl has got to have her sweet treat, even on the busiest of days!
Speaking of busy days, you might be wondering how I manage to cram all of these experiences into one day! The truth is, darling, I like to live life on fast-forward! After my deliciously indulgent afternoon tea at ‘The Sugarplum,’ I had an incredible meeting with the director of the Feltham Ballet School – what a fascinating lady! We're talking a whirlwind of passion, grace and, dare I say, a whole lot of pink – she even gave me a pink ballerina teacup with a darling tiny pink tutu printed on it, perfect for my collection! It turns out that Feltham Ballet School is all about spreading the love of ballet and nurturing young dancers, much like what I aim to do with TutuBlog, but with a bit more focus on dancing with wild abandon. (Well, I have a touch of a rebellious streak in me.) You never know what magic might bloom when a love of tutu and a desire to dance come together!
The evening brought another delightful treat - I went to see a wonderful performance by "The Feltham Fairies," a talented youth ballet troupe made up of local youngsters. They captured the magic of ballet in a heartwarming and delightful performance, all set to music that made my inner ballerina absolutely soar! They moved with such grace, with an infectious joy, a touch of youthful magic and I swear, I even saw some pink tutus in the performance. Pink, I'm telling you, is simply a magical colour, even more so in a ballet studio, and I'm sure even a tutu veteran like me has a thing or two to learn from these tiny dance superstars.
You know, when I was a little girl in Derbyshire, I would imagine myself dancing like a magical fairy on stage, wearing a pink tutu, and maybe performing at the Royal Albert Hall - my wildest dream was to grace a London stage! Today was about spreading the joy and grace of ballet in a little town near London. Perhaps the most incredible thing I realized today was how beautiful and exciting the everyday can be.
So here's a thought for you darlings: what if you wore a pink tutu every single day? Think about it – what better way to brighten someone's day? It's about stepping outside of your comfort zone, celebrating individuality, and most importantly, having some fun. Whether you’re an aspiring dancer, a curious observer, or just looking to add a little extra "oomph" to your wardrobe, there's nothing quite like a twirl in a pink tutu! Remember, the world is your stage! So dance, twirl, and sparkle like there's no tomorrow!
Until tomorrow, lovelies!
With twirls and pink kisses, Emma x
