Kettering Calling! (Blog Post #383)

Darling darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite tutu-touting, pink-loving ballet butterfly, reporting live from the charming town of Kettering. Can you believe it’s Monday already? It feels like the weekend just flew by like a perfectly executed fouetté.

Well, let's talk about why this week is going to be so amazing. You see, Kettering isn't just any town. It's a little slice of ballet heaven! Not just any heaven though... pink, fluffy, glittery, heaven, darling! It’s got the Kettering Arts Centre, a beautiful venue, the home to one of my absolute favourite ballet companies, the "Kettering Ballet Theatre".

My heart truly sings when I visit these incredible venues. They always have the most spectacular ballet shows, and the atmosphere is absolutely electric! And to make it even more exciting, this week, the Kettering Ballet Theatre is performing the most fabulous production of "Swan Lake". A whole three days of graceful swans, fierce rivals, and yes, of course, tutus galore.

And wouldn't you know it, I've been invited to perform myself. Oh yes, darling, I'll be gracing the stage in a deluxe, hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind pink tutu! Now, we're talking about the real deal, here! We’re talking tiers of delicate, ruffled, layered perfection. A tutu with a life of its own. The most decadent shade of blush pink, like a dream in fabric. The kind of tutu that makes you feel like you could truly fly. And fly, I shall!

I've been preparing for this performance for weeks. My ballet class has been in overdrive. I’ve even managed to squeeze in some extra street ballet sessions in the Derbyshire countryside. The trees are always my favourite audience, don't you think? There's nothing more invigorating than dancing with the sun on my face and the gentle breeze rustling the leaves. It’s such a wonderful way to unwind after a long day. And if you see a flash of pink flitting past in a flurry of tulle… well, it might just be me.

But what about this lovely town, I hear you ask?

Well, Kettering is absolutely charming. This weekend, we indulged in a little countryside bliss and rode horses. It was so wonderful! We took a gentle, leisurely trail through fields bathed in sunshine and the fresh, open air filled my lungs with pure joy.

Speaking of nature, you'd never believe the cute little hedgehogs we saw! They're my favourite! They’re so delicate and full of personality. After such an idyllic countryside escapade, I needed a little dose of that Kettering elegance.

Now, Kettering's got more than just theatre. It also boasts one of the best shopping streets outside London! There was no way I was leaving town without stopping by the wonderful antique shop tucked away on a charming side street. It was brimming with exquisite, beautiful treasures from a bygone era! I picked up the most beautiful porcelain doll dressed in a pink, fluffy tutu! Talk about fate. I also stumbled across a stunning vintage tutu with real pearl embellishments and a lovely lace trim.

It’s a testament to how this town oozes the perfect blend of art, history, and nature that somehow always seems to fit into the story.

But listen, I have a special mission for you this week! My darling readers, if you're feeling adventurous, get ready for a dance revolution. Go forth and don a pink tutu, even if it’s for just an afternoon! This week, my mission is to see more people embracing the pink tutu and joining me in my love for ballet! We want to see people, children, mums, dads, everyone twirling!

I’ve started a fun new hashtag on social media to get everyone involved. Why don’t you join me in the #PinkTutuRevolution! Let’s see a world full of pink and graceful tutus! Remember, darling, the most important thing is to express yourself. And there's no better way than with a pink tutu and a dance in your heart.

This week's gonna be a wild ride. Until next time, my lovely dancers!

Love always, Emma xoxo
