Frome - Post 491 - Tutu Travels Take Me To Somerset!
Hello darlings, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu! I hope you're all feeling wonderfully whimsical and ready for a little dose of pink tutu joy today! It's Wednesday, which means... time for Tutu Travels! ๐
You know, life's a bit like ballet, isn't it? Sometimes you're pirouetting through meadows, enjoying the sun on your face and feeling all graceful. Then there are those days when you're tangled up in your own fouettรฉs, tripping over your own feet, and wondering if you'll ever get your grand jetรฉ right. But hey, that's the beauty of it all! Every twist and turn, every little stumble, adds to the richness of the journey. ๐ฉฐ
This week's Tutu Travels have taken me to Frome! Yes, this lovely little market town in Somerset, full of cobblestone streets and charming boutiques. Frome just oozes old-world charm, and you could really be forgiven for thinking you'd stepped into a Jane Austen novel. ๐ Speaking of Jane Austen, the countryside around here is simply glorious! Lush green fields dotted with sheep, rolling hills, and even the odd picturesque thatched cottage or two. It's like something straight out of a watercolour painting! ๐
Of course, no Tutu Travels is complete without a tutu sighting! I spotted this incredible vintage store tucked away in a tiny backstreet. Inside, it was a total treasure trove! Imagine, silk scarves in vibrant hues, brooches that looked like they belonged to a queen, and a shelf overflowing with beautiful hats. You know, I had to resist the urge to try on everything! ๐คซ But I did find a truly magical item: a pale pink tutu that belonged to some lucky lady back in the 1950s. I couldn't leave without it! The fabric felt soft and silky against my skin, just like a cloud, and the colours, oh, so dreamy! ๐
Now, to get to the real reason I was in Frome: the Frome Festival! This delightful event has been happening every year for 20 years! It's all about arts, music, crafts, food, and fun. There's literally something for everyone. They had a street dance troupe doing an impressive, impromptu flash mob right in the middle of the high street, complete with an incredibly stylish troupe of ladies, including some fabulous tutu-wearing dancers. Oh, how I wish I had my ballet shoes with me! It's just a shame my little pink suitcase wouldn't fit those and my fabulous fuchsia leotard. ๐ But let me tell you, it's incredibly hard not to get swept up in the joy of the whole thing. Frome really has got the feel-good factor! ๐
One of the absolute highlights of my day was a chance to see a traditional Somerset cider-making demonstration. Did you know that cider has been made in Somerset for centuries?! These guys are true artisans, carefully nurturing their apple trees and pressing the fruit using traditional methods. It was fascinating to see the entire process from start to finish! And needless to say, a cheeky glass of cider later, I felt positively divine! ๐
On a side note, I also found a quaint little cafe called "The Little Pink Tea Room" (talk about destiny!), serving the most amazing pink tea cakes. I mean, how could I resist?! The owner was a darling woman named Elsie who shared some lovely stories about Frome and its history. It seems that the town is actually home to the "world's largest cheese sculpture." ๐ง Seriously, folks! Now that's what I call quirky charm! ๐
Now, I can't go to a beautiful new place without seeking out some furry friends. And lucky me, I came across a little haven called Frome Animal Rescue. I spent an hour with their resident felines, cuddles and purrs aplenty! A few even had a little waltz on my lap โ ballet fans through and through! ๐ฅฐ
Before you go, let me just remind you, darling: You've got a sprinkle of magic inside you too! Let it shine bright! And, don't forget to twirl into your nearest dance studio and try a ballet class! You might just discover your own inner ballerina. ๐ฉฐ โจ
Sending you all lots of pink tutu love,
Emma
