Darling dears!

Happy Thursday, lovelies! I'm writing to you from the charming, historic city of Portsmouth! This weekend, I took a little trip to the coast for a spot of dancing and exploring and, as always, my beloved green tutu made the journey with me, because you can't possibly be too well-dressed when there are seaside delights to be savoured, darling!

My adventure began at the train station in my beautiful little hometown, Derby, which I love to say! So excited, my excitement was nearly enough to make me pirouette on the platform, darling! The carriage of my chosen train was blessedly quiet – the journey had started blissfully, just how I like it!

The first thing that struck me about Portsmouth, apart from its lovely sea breeze and quaint shops, was how wonderfully vibrant it felt! This city pulsated with a unique charm – a lively mixture of historic buildings, modern eateries, and the ever-present smell of the sea. A beautiful concoction, wouldn't you agree, my darlings?

After I arrived, I popped into a café where I had a very good cuppa (so needed!) and some yummy carrot cake - my absolute favourite! The café was charming – it was painted a lovely, bright pink, with pastel pink accents, just the cutest! A perfect stop after a lovely train journey, don't you think, darlings?

Of course, I couldn’t let my trip be solely about delicious cake! I was dying to see the legendary Portsmouth Ballet Theatre! I just couldn't miss this - this group of dancers has quite the reputation for its elegance, energy, and exquisite artistry!

That evening, dressed in a tutu as pink as a candyfloss cloud, and feeling a surge of joyous anticipation, I made my way to the theatre, my green tutu floating lightly with every step, I might add, darling! As I made my way inside, the theatre was already abuzz, full of excited murmurs and happy chattering, an infectious kind of energy. Everyone, I think, was just as delighted about the show as I was!

The performance, darling dears, was nothing short of sensational. The choreography, both graceful and dramatic, sent shivers down my spine, the musicians played their hearts out, the set was beautiful, oh my gosh! Just breathtaking! But my absolute favourite bit was watching those graceful, expressive dancers effortlessly glide across the stage, with their pink tutus twinkling in the spotlight! Seeing this display of athleticism and grace, and how ballet has truly been mastered by these lovely dancers - well, it almost made me cry with pure, unadulterated happiness!

The next day, my dear lovelies, was just as full of magical things! I strolled through the historic dockyard, captivated by the imposing ships and their history, just mesmerised! You can truly feel the presence of those incredible mariners and their journeys in the past. Just lovely!

But this lovely city offered more than just naval history! I was delighted to stumble upon a wonderful equine stable, darling! This was one of my favourite things to do, I do love a good equine stable, as my lovely mare would say.

There, with all the elegant stallions and beautiful mares – horses so proud and beautiful, I wanted to cry, they were stunning, darlings – I simply had to get in a saddle. I haven't ridden a horse in quite some time, it’s not easy to find stables around here. But darling, when I felt that feeling of freedom as I galloped across those grassy fields, it simply filled my heart with pure, unbridled joy, my darlings! You see, that feeling - that’s what it’s all about!

To end my little adventure, darlings, I headed to the coast, to catch the magnificent sunrise. That moment, the moment the sun burst through the horizon, bathing everything in warm light - well, darling, it's one I'll never forget! I almost felt like I was back in a ballet, the golden glow and the sparkling waves felt like I was on stage - a stunning ballet performance from mother nature!

Back on the train, and already dreaming of my next ballet show (what's an ex-ballet dancer without some ballet! ), my little trip to Portsmouth was one to remember, my darlings. You know, I'm always looking for adventure, but finding that perfect blend of artistry, history, nature and, of course, tutus! What else can I ask for?

Until next time, remember: Dance like no one is watching! You don't have to be perfect! Enjoy the process and wear your heart on your sleeve and a pink tutu on your beautiful form! I will try to make it through another day. Now where's that pink tutu?! I better get packing, darlings, and thank goodness I have my lovely, lovely green tutu. Oh, how I adore my green tutu!

See you next time!
