Walsall Waltz - Tutu Blog Post #609

Oh my goodness, darlings! It’s Wednesday morning and I’m back in my little Derbyshire cottage, feeling the glorious peace and quiet after a whirlwind weekend in the utterly delightful town of Walsall. Honestly, it felt like stepping back in time - in the best way, of course! The cobbled streets, the historic buildings, and the sheer charm of the place were simply irresistible. And of course, I just had to take my trusty yellow tutu for a spin.

Let’s rewind a little bit, shall we? I left Derbyshire on a sunny Friday afternoon, after a delicious lunch of leek and potato soup with my mum. My heart was already thumping with excitement for the ballet class I was booked into later that evening at a lovely studio just a stone's throw from the train station. But first, there was something else that had to be done: shopping.

Now, I’m not usually a fan of the high street, but I just couldn't resist a peek into the shops of Walsall. I was on the lookout for a special something - a gift for my friend Sarah who's a huge fan of antique trinkets. And, wouldn’t you know it, I found a charming little shop tucked away in a side street that had the perfect thing! A tiny, silver ballerina brooch, delicate as a snowflake. Just imagine Sarah’s face when she sees it!

Anyway, after my treasure hunt, I was ready to finally unleash my inner prima ballerina at the studio. And let me tell you, the class was fantastic! There were so many talented dancers of all ages and abilities, and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. I learnt some new moves, worked up a sweat (that yellow tutu can be quite the heat-trap, you know!), and just had the best time.

The weekend continued in a beautiful ballet bubble. Saturday was spent soaking up the beauty of a delightful performance by the Walsall Ballet Company. Their production of 'Giselle' was absolutely stunning! It brought tears to my eyes, the talent and grace on that stage. You really felt the depth of emotion behind the choreography, the costumes were simply breathtaking, and the music was simply magical. I’d have been happy to watch them all day long!

Afterwards, we wandered through the bustling market, enjoying delicious hot pasties and warming ourselves with cups of mulled cider. It was such a joyous, friendly scene!

But wait, there's more! On Sunday morning, I decided to take a little detour into the countryside surrounding Walsall. After a leisurely train ride, I found myself amidst rolling hills, stunning views, and even a couple of cheeky little squirrels who seemed as surprised to see me as I was to see them! I took my camera out, of course. There's something truly magical about those crisp, bright mornings in the English countryside, don’t you think?

So, that was my lovely Walsall weekend, a perfect mix of ballet, history, and natural beauty. You know, darlings, sometimes the smallest towns have the biggest hearts. If you ever get the chance to visit, just be sure to wear something fabulous – I know you’ll have a brilliant time!

Until next time, dance on!
