Greenford Galavant: Tutu-tastic Travels in the 'Burbs

Post Number 666 (Yep, you read that right!)

Hey, lovelies! Emma here, your pink-tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed, travel-bug-bitten gal from the rolling hills of Derbyshire, now gracing you with a little post from a sunny, springy Greenford, west of London.

You might be thinking, "Greenford? Isn't that a bit…well, normal for someone like you, Emma? Shhh Don’t let my tutu-clad exterior fool you, I adore a bit of unexpected adventure, even if it means finding the hidden gems of London's suburbs. I'm on a mission, after all: to spread the pink-tutu love and the joy of ballet wherever I go.

This journey, though, started with a real bang. The Greenford station platform was like something out of a Disney film. A shimmering blue and white horse carriage, with two beautiful horses adorned with pink plumes. My kind of ride, I thought with a grin.

I'd traded in my trusty heels for my trusty riding boots for this escapade, a tiny black-and-white polka dot dress peeking out from beneath. You can never go wrong with a bit of classic, chic elegance, especially when a handsome gentleman in a dapper suit opens the carriage door and gives me a wink. You see, there's something truly magical about traveling by horse and carriage – it's a beautiful journey back in time, reminding us of simpler days, and reminding me why I fell in love with ballet.

Greenford, once a humble village, is now a blossoming town with a lively spirit that's ready to embrace the arts. And by 'arts', I mean ballet, naturally!

First stop? A charming local dance studio, where the welcoming scent of lavender oil and wood polish filled the air. The moment I walked in, it felt like a dream. Warm wooden floors, a stunning grand piano taking centre stage, and rows of young, hopeful ballet dancers eagerly waiting to start their classes. I practically felt my heart swelling with the je ne sais quoi of the artistic world. It felt like home!

Then came the fun part: the tutu unveiling! After slipping into my vibrant pink creation, a little whimsical and daring, with a bit of sparkle for extra oomph, the dancers gasped, giggling and cheering. That, my loves, is pure joy right there. Spreading the joy of ballet and embracing a touch of 'extra' – that's the pink tutu life.

While Greenford might not be known for its ballet scene yet, it certainly holds a secret treasure: a group of dedicated ballet students who are taking the London dance scene by storm. After a private lesson (did someone say "pirouette"?!), these incredibly talented dancers are set to break onto the professional stage. I, for one, can't wait to see their amazing talents take centre stage!

No trip to Greenford is complete without visiting the town's lovely green spaces, a haven for wildlife and tranquility. We enjoyed a picnic by the serene Greenford Lake, enjoying the chatter of a cheeky squirrel who was just so curious about my picnic basket. It felt so peaceful and serene, a true escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Speaking of escapes, the best way to cap off a day filled with dance and nature is to enjoy a truly divine cuppa at a traditional tearoom, "The Rose and Crown." My afternoon tea – complete with scones, jam, clotted cream, and a spot of pink tea (of course!) – was the perfect ending to this idyllic afternoon.

Greenford, you've won my heart, not just with your charming atmosphere and lovely locals but with your open arms to ballet and art. Remember, my darlings, life is all about embracing the beauty around us, letting loose, and, of course, rocking a little pink tutu!

Stay tuned for more adventures on www.pink-tutu.com – the world is my tutu, and I'm going to dance all over it!

Love, Emma
