Falkirk Calling! Pink Tutu Travels #711

Hello my gorgeous ballet bunnies! It's Emma here, and guess what? Today's adventure is all about sunshine, tutus, and the fabulous town of Falkirk!

I've always loved train journeys - there's something about the gentle sway of the carriage, the whizzing by of the countryside, and the quiet moments for reflection (and maybe a sneaky dance in the aisle when nobody's looking). Anyway, I boarded my trusty steam train in Derbyshire bright and early, my favourite pink tutu twirling excitedly by my side, ready to soak up the Scottish vibes.

Falkirk, you're a gem! You might be known for your towering, imposing Kelpies – the stunning horse head sculptures - and I can see why. But it's the smaller things that really stole my heart: the vibrant colours bursting from the market stalls, the charming cobbled streets leading you down winding pathways, the delicious smell of freshly baked goodies wafting from quaint cafes, and of course, the incredible Falkirk Wheel - a wonder of modern engineering, and definitely worth the visit!

I couldn't resist putting on a show for the locals. I found the perfect spot near the bustling Falkirk town square and spun a little ballet routine - well, more like a spirited waltz in my pink tutu, really. People stopped, some with a raised eyebrow, some with genuine smiles. And honestly? It was magical! I think the joy of dance is universal, and that even a few pirouettes in a public square can bring people together, even for a fleeting moment.

I also treated myself to a slice of freshly-baked apple pie, devoured with the gusto it deserved. The locals are wonderfully friendly, always ready for a chat, and full of fascinating stories. I found out that Falkirk has a rich history, from the ancient battles fought on its fields to the industrial revolution which transformed its landscape.

But the thing that really made my Falkirk adventure truly unforgettable was a chance encounter with a beautiful white horse grazing near a peaceful riverbank. We made eye contact, and for a brief moment, everything just stopped. The gentle swaying of the horse’s tail, the rustle of the leaves, the babbling of the water… it was all a magical moment frozen in time. You know what, it even made me want to try horseback riding! I always loved horses and felt an instant connection, even if I did get a bit muddied!

My day ended at the theatre, where I watched an exhilarating production of Swan Lake. I mean, honestly, could anything be more elegant than swans dancing? It’s such a powerful, emotional ballet that just captivates you. As I was taking my seat, I saw a girl looking rather shy and hesitant. I approached her and, well, what do you know? It turned out she’d always dreamt of learning ballet but never dared to try. So I said to her: “What are you waiting for?” and with that, we made a deal to take a beginner class together. I couldn't help but feel a little bit giddy and excited – she reminded me of my own journey.

Back in my hotel room, my little heart filled to bursting, I write this blog entry. It's amazing how even a little adventure can recharge you.

My pink tutu journey is ongoing - who knows what new adventures will be around the corner. Falkirk, you’ll forever hold a special place in my pink tutu-loving heart.

Remember, dear readers, a little pink tutu never hurt anyone. It's just the key to unlock your inner joy, to express yourself freely and to show the world that ballet is for everyone, no matter your age or experience.

Go forth and dance! And don't forget to wear pink!

Until next time, my lovely bunnies! Lots of love and twirls!

Emma xoxo
