Birmingham Bound: Tutu-ing Around in a City of Culture
Post Number: 776
Good morning, my lovely tutu-lovers! Itās Emma here, reporting from the sunshine-drenched peak district in my home county of Derbyshire! Today is a very special day, as Iām finally setting off for Birmingham! I can already imagine the thrill of the journey, and the exciting adventures awaiting me in this vibrant city. And of course, no adventure is complete without my trusty pink tutu, the most fabulous companion a girl could ask for!
Iāve always loved exploring different places, whether it's hopping on a train to discover hidden corners of the UK or going on grand adventures across the globe. And the thought of being in a city bursting with art, culture, and of course, theatre is simply irresistible!
This time, however, I'm not travelling on the steam engine railway lines as I have previously, which can be exciting if a little unreliable! Instead, I'm joining a friend who is driving us down, stopping off at various points to take in the glorious countryside views.
It's funny, you know. Travelling by car makes me feel like I'm a modern-day gypsy with my life packed in a suitcase ā all those wonderful stories to tell later! I just love the sense of freedom that comes with travelling and discovering new places. And I'm hoping to share those stories with you right here, every single day. I'm aiming to capture those wonderful "Aha" moments, the unexpected discoveries, and all those "pink tutu-worthy" things that make this life a dance!
And speaking of dancingā¦ my journey to Birmingham is a trip entirely dedicated to the magical world of ballet! Iām about to dive headfirst into a weekend packed with events, workshops, and of course, performances. The main event is the National Ballet of Canada performing at Birmingham Hippodrome. This performance is special ā they are the company who are hosting an incredible program called āDancing Through The Decadesā ā featuring excerpts from productions across the companyās history, featuring works like āCinderellaā and āGiselleā, plus lots more. I've got my fingers crossed I get to snap a picture or two in front of the theatre itself to share here!
But first, my friend and I have to catch up ā it feels like ages since we last saw each other, although its only been about six weeks. The best way to do this? By going for a morning at the ballet bar in her studio! Even though she's a brilliant dancer in her own right, we love the energy that comes from going to a class together ā it really boosts the creativity. Who needs coffee when you can do barre work! Weāre hoping to share a video or two for you later. It can be hard to look graceful, whilst having a good laugh, however Iām certain this video will be more about the fun and laughter we'll share, as much as the beauty of ballet itself!
Birmingham, prepare yourself. This pink-tutu clad blogger is about to invade your streets. Be warned. Expect to be embraced by the spirit of ballet everywhere. And even if you donāt think ballet is your thing, thatās okay. Let's make some magic. Iāll teach you to dance! And by the way, just because you can't actually wear a pink tutu everywhere, a pink accessory, whether it's a hair clip, a pink scarf, or pink shoes, will make a difference to your day!
So keep watching! And be sure to follow me on social media for all the latest updates. I'll be using the hashtag #EmmaGoesBirmingham so you can follow my every moveā¦ (Pun intended!) And stay tuned! After Birmingham, I'm taking my pink tutu to Scotland, where we'll be exploring castles and the dramatic highlands. (Just hope it doesn't rain for my photos! I may just have to carry an umbrella, although that won't be as glamorous).
Until then, may your week be filled with pirouettes, twirls, and the joyful energy of dancing! And please, everyone, try wearing pink - at least for a little while. You may just discover a whole new you!
