Worthing Wonderful! - TutuBlog Post #784

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from another amazing adventure. This time, I've swapped the rolling Derbyshire hills for the stunning seaside town of Worthing, a place that truly lives up to its name.

I've been on the go, hopping about on trains and making a bee-line for Worthing, where my fabulous pink tutu (it's the one with the sparkly sequins!) is getting all the attention, naturally. Worthing is a beautiful place, full of Victorian charm, the sea air smells salty and invigorating, and I just love how it feels like stepping back in time.

My week has been packed with loveliness! You'll be pleased to hear, dear readers, that the pink tutu got lots of stares, smiles, and even a couple of photo requests. The locals are just so friendly and I truly feel welcomed, a little bit like a fairytale come true!

Now, as you all know, my adventures often involve dance! Worthing boasts a rather grand theatre called the Connaught, and a charming little studio tucked away on a side street. Let's just say I've been living my ballerina dreams!

The Theatre & The Tutus

The Connaught is an old Victorian theatre, just the right kind of grand and fabulous for a classic ballet. You should have seen the magnificent chandelier; I felt like a little dancing princess underneath it, twirling and leaping for the sheer joy of it all.

They were performing a modern ballet this week. It's quite unusual for a show with such a dramatic, powerful storyline. You know I love my classical ballets, with their pretty tutus and delicate dances, but it was such a fresh and exciting show, the kind of dance that really leaves a lasting impression. I was blown away by the dancers; their skills were extraordinary, and I felt myself captivated throughout the entire performance. I had a lovely lady sat next to me, and she even complimented me on my own little "ballet of joy" during the curtain calls.

The Studio

It's quite small but quaint, this little studio I found in Worthing, and that's part of the charm! They have the cutest little changing rooms and I swear the sound of my pointe shoes echoing around the studio is almost angelic. The teacher is such a lovely lady, her hair is a silver curl and her smile is almost as bright as my pink tutu! The classes were lively and I learnt some new steps to impress my next audience. The ballet itself felt so fresh and fun, not at all formal. In fact, it reminds me of all the lovely dance memories I have from back home in Derbyshire, just a little touch of home in a place so new!

A Seaside Stroll and Some Wonderful Wildlife

Every day I have made time for a walk along Worthing’s pier. I've never seen so many colourful beach huts! And those quaint seaside shops! A must-buy for my collection of pink-themed treasures – a beautiful, bright pink porcelain teapot that is now perched proudly on my dresser back home! The beach itself, what a haven of serenity, where I could wander with my thoughts and soak up the sun (and get my photo taken with some charming children wearing bright red tutus). It is truly amazing how the colours of a seaside town reflect my very own personal style and spirit, a kind of pink magic!

Of course, being the nature-lover I am, I've been checking out the local wildlife too. I'm hoping to see a few more seagulls before I go. They always make me giggle, especially when they're flying over my head. This reminds me; have you seen the seagulls in Derby? I am still trying to get the little devils to cooperate for my "Seagull Dance Project" – more on that later.

Horse & Carriage Ride – Just Like in the Movies

What trip would be complete without a scenic ride? A horse-drawn carriage! The streets are so cobbled and quaint, and they even have little shops on each corner. I was treated like a princess as we drove around the town; people gave us little waves as we went past. And it all feels just like the old black and white films I adore! It was almost surreal and utterly beautiful, you simply must add this to your own “Emma Inspired” itinerary!

The Little Shop of Tutu Delights

I stumbled across a tiny shop called “The Little Ballerina”, crammed full of beautiful, sparkly, pastel pink tutus, and it was a dance fan's heaven! My favourite? It was a delicate silk pink tutu with ribbons in the colours of the rainbow, truly breathtaking! Imagine a tutu so dazzling, so delicate, it looks like it's floating, the sort you can imagine the Sugar Plum Fairy wearing! As I'm writing this I just know I need to make this one mine and to wear it to my next ballet performance! Oh dear, perhaps I have just created a whole new travel and shopping dilemma. The most exciting thing, this adorable little shop also happens to sell handmade, sparkly pink ballet slippers that match my gorgeous new tutu! This could be a life-changing discovery for any ballet dancer who has an interest in all things fabulous!

Time to Return – The Dance Continues!

So my trip to Worthing, it's sadly time to wave goodbye to this little paradise, but my heart feels full of happiness. The people are friendly, the place is full of magic, the ballet was breath-taking, and I've found my new tutu! But don't worry, my darlings, I’m not leaving for long! I'm on my way back to my dear Derbyshire. This next stop is just another adventure, a different kind of story to tell. But know that no matter where I am, my love for pink and tutus, for ballet and its joy, continues to inspire me.

As always, thank you for being a part of my adventures. It is an honour to share this with you! Do keep up with the excitement on www.pink-tutu.com. I promise my next blog will be just as sparkly and enchanting!

And remember, life is a stage, a chance to dance. Wear your pink tutus, find your joy, and remember, we're all part of one big, beautiful ballet, together!

Love, Emma x
