Bradford Bound: A Cyan Tutu Adventure! 🩰

Hey my darlings! 👋 It’s your favourite Derbyshire lass, Emma, back with another post from my latest ballet-filled adventure! This time I've been shimmying and swaying my way up north, to the charming city of Bradford!

This adventure began bright and early, with the sound of birds chirping a symphony outside my window. Now, usually I'm a horse girl through and through – nothing beats a gallop through the fields in the morning, feeling the wind in my hair. But today, it was all about the train journey. There’s something so romantic about sipping on a steaming cuppa, watching the countryside roll by from the comfort of a carriage, especially when you’re sporting a fabulous tutu!

Speaking of fabulous, let me tell you all about the tutu I chose for this journey – a dazzling cyan number! You know I’m all about that classic pink tutu, but every now and then I love to add a splash of something new! This vibrant shade was just perfect for the sunny day, it really brightened up the whole carriage!

And you know what? Everyone seemed to be loving the look! It’s not everyday you see a tutu on the train, let me tell you! It definitely brightened people’s days. A little old lady even gave me a warm smile and told me I was “lovely, darling.”

Bradford was calling, though, so I was soon bounding off the train and onto the streets! Bradford’s a fantastic mix of historic architecture and modern energy, a true delight to wander around. There was just something about the cobbled streets and quaint shops that made my heart sing – like a proper Victorian ballet scene! Of course, a trip wouldn’t be complete without a proper visit to the ballet school.

Bradford Dance School is an absolute gem! It’s one of those lovely old school buildings that whisper stories of elegance and grace. It reminded me so much of my childhood ballet classes back in Derbyshire, the only difference being that I wasn't in a gorgeous cyan tutu back then! They held a fantastic beginner class and I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful aspiring dancers. It was just heartwarming to see the pure joy on their faces as they took their first pirouette and plié.

The day ended with the most magical performance at Bradford’s Grand Theatre. It was a rendition of "Giselle", with the costumes and set design being absolutely breath-taking! I particularly loved the haunting use of light and shadow – the kind of magic that ballet can create so beautifully. I even saw a beautiful peacock outside the theatre – a little wildlife reminder for this nature-loving ballet dancer!

By the time I was back on the train, heading home to Derbyshire, I was utterly exhausted but bursting with inspiration. I had soaked up the atmosphere of this brilliant city, witnessed some amazing dancing, and met some truly lovely people along the way. And of course, I wore my cyan tutu with pride!

Oh, and I had a very important message to spread: wear pink tutus and dance like nobody's watching. And remember, life is too short to take things too seriously, so embrace the silliness, spread the joy and dance your heart out! 😉💖🩰

Until next time, lovelies! 💖
