Welling, Post 943: Tutu Adventures in the Garden of England!

Hello my gorgeous Tutu Tribe! 👋 It's Emma, your pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger, coming to you live from sunny Welling, Kent! Yep, I traded in the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the charming countryside of the Garden of England. And guess what? It's just as delightful as everyone says, with its rolling hills and charming villages, especially if you're wearing a European-style tutu. 🩰

This trip was a long time in the making. Ever since seeing that picture in a travel magazine of a quaint little cottage surrounded by a sea of blooming lavender, I knew I had to visit. And finally, after what feels like an eternity of planning and saving, here I am!

But before we get into all the picturesque sights and idyllic settings, I've gotta talk about the train journey. Remember, dear Tutu Tribe, my heart belongs to all things elegant and vintage. That's why travelling by train always fills me with joy. Stepping aboard a gleaming, plush carriage with plush velvet seats and a gentle sway as we trundled along the track - absolute heaven! I'm talking classic Victorian elegance meets the modern comfort of air conditioning and onboard Wi-Fi! 🤩

And let's talk about the outfit! Naturally, a tutu was absolutely non-negotiable. I opted for a dreamy European-style tutu, you know, the ones with all the beautiful layers and tulle, all swishing around as I strolled through the carriages, feeling like a ballerina on the move! (Plus, all the other passengers definitely appreciated the show... 😉 )

Welling itself is absolutely charming! It's just like stepping into a scene from a classic movie, complete with cute shops, quaint tearooms, and locals with a genuine friendliness that warms the soul. This time around, my quest for beautiful blooms led me to a nearby lavender farm. Imagine: acres upon acres of purple lavender stretching out to the horizon, fragrant air filling my lungs, and butterflies fluttering about. It felt like a dream. And let's be honest, you can never have enough photos with a field of lavender in a tutu, right?!

I couldn't resist picking up some fragrant lavender soap from the farm shop. You see, my dear friends, it's not enough for me to smell amazing from all the ballet rehearsals; it's gotta be the whole lavender experience! And let's be honest, there's nothing more delightful than drifting off to sleep after a long day, wrapped in a blanket smelling of lavender, your senses filled with the calming aromas of the English countryside. 🌿

And what's a trip to the English countryside without a proper afternoon tea, wouldn't you agree? A gorgeous porcelain teapot, perfectly crumbly scones with lashings of clotted cream and strawberry jam, and a dainty cup of Earl Grey. Oh, my dears, there’s nothing quite like a truly elegant afternoon tea experience, especially while wearing a delicate pastel pink tutu! 🧁

Of course, no journey would be complete without a little ballet. It seems the universe has a wicked sense of humor! While wandering through the quaint streets of Welling, I stumbled upon a delightful ballet school hidden amongst the quaint shops and bustling cafés! Naturally, I had to join the class. Talk about a blast from the past! The whole experience filled me with so much nostalgia! We went through some beautiful classical ballet routines, and it felt so wonderfully refreshing to be back in the studio. There's truly nothing quite like the feeling of being lost in the music and the steps, moving gracefully in my tutu, with the feel of polished wood beneath my feet. I know, right? Heaven! 💖

But Welling's magic extends beyond ballet and beautiful landscapes. Did you know the region is also known for its gorgeous wildlife? As I walked through a meadow on a whim, I spotted a charming little family of rabbits hopping along, and my inner child squealed in delight. Their soft fur and adorable little noses - too much to handle! It truly proves that sometimes, you find the most amazing things just by getting out there and exploring! 🐇

It’s times like this I realise just how lucky I am to experience the beauty of the world, one tutu-wearing adventure at a time. The feeling of travelling and seeing new things in a way that feels truly mine - that's something I wouldn’t trade for the world.

So, Tutu Tribe, remember: never stop exploring! Life is an adventure, and we should all try our best to embrace every moment, from a luxurious train ride to a stunning lavender field. Oh, and of course, there’s always room for a little ballet! 🥰

See you all tomorrow for more pink-tutu fun! 💖

Until then, dance your heart out, and spread the joy!

Emma 🩰💕
