Hitchin Hooray!

(Post number 976)

Well, hello lovelies! Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad ballerina, ready to take you on another sartorial journey. Today, my darling readers, I'm waltzing into the enchanting town of Hitchin, a place that just radiates charm!

It all started bright and early this morning. I woke up with the birds chirping outside my Derbyshire window, all a-flutter like my pink feather boa. The sunshine streamed through the window, making everything shimmer, just like the sequins on my newest pink tutu! My little heart was a-twitter, and I just knew it was going to be a brilliant day!

But before I even touched my breakfast croissants, there was a most wonderful surprise waiting for me on the doorstep! My best friend, Chloe, a fellow tutu aficionado and my right-hand woman for all things pink, had sent me a little package – a gorgeous new, super-sized pink tulle skirt! You know me, my love for tutus is bottomless, and this one was a beauty, fit for a princess! So, you know what that means! My outfit was settled: a fluffy pink tutu over my pink silk top, topped with a sparkling tiara and my trademark cherry-red ballet pumps. What could possibly go wrong?!

Off we went, a pink whirlwind on its way, Chloe driving her car (a classic Morris Minor that we affectionately call "The Tutu Transporter") - I prefer my horse, Penelope, but she’s been in a sulk lately as the weather’s been less than stellar and it wouldn't be fair on her in the rain.

Our journey to Hitchin was picture-perfect, filled with chatter and our shared love for all things dance, plus a couple of hilarious impromptu ballet performances by yours truly in the back seat – just a bit of harmless fun! And who knows, maybe someone passing by had a little spark ignited in their souls, wondering "what is that beautiful pink blur?" That's what we want, to inspire, to ignite a love of ballet in everyone's hearts!

We arrived in Hitchin, and my love, oh, my love! This charming little town was like a fairy tale! It felt like stepping straight out of a Jane Austen novel! We wandered down cobblestone streets lined with antique shops and independent boutiques bursting with unique treasures, just like my tutu collection. There were little tea rooms tucked away with floral decorations, tempting us with mouth-watering cakes and delicate teacups. Everything just felt utterly lovely and serene, like a ballet pirouette.

The town itself is a ballet lover's dream, boasting an historic theatre with a delightful stage, and, my absolute favourite part, a beautiful community hall hosting weekly ballet classes! It turns out Hitchin has quite a flourishing ballet scene. We decided to take a peek and see what was happening. Oh, the joy of being welcomed into such a delightful group of dancers – from graceful veterans to beginners all excited to try the art form! It was simply lovely to see the love of ballet expressed in such an enthusiastic group of individuals!

Naturally, I couldn't resist the temptation! There I was, my pink tutu swirling as I joined a delightful class full of talented dancers. I'll admit, I did a bit of showing off, throwing in a couple of fancy footwork steps just for the fun of it – who could resist, it’s like a delicious sugary treat for the soul! But what made it so truly magical was seeing the genuine smile of a little girl in a bright pink leotard who clearly loved dancing. That was my whole mission accomplished, you see? Spread the love of ballet to everyone!

Our time in Hitchin flew by in a joyful blur, much like my tulle skirt. As the day drew to a close, we found ourselves relaxing in a lovely pub with a view of the countryside – you know me, I'm quite the sucker for a bit of natural beauty. Over delicious home-cooked pies and steaming mugs of Earl Grey, we chatted about everything and nothing. Chloe was full of giggles about a funny incident earlier, involving a dropped pastry, a curious dog, and a rather flustered waiter. It was just perfect!

Later, we walked back to "The Tutu Transporter," a sense of contentment filling the air like the scent of fresh pastries. My pink tutu was just starting to gather a few of Hitchin’s dust motes, making it feel just that little bit more special.

Before you go, remember lovelies! Embrace your inner dancer! Wear a pink tutu! Unleash your inner grace, even if you’ve never touched a ballet shoe in your life. Because life, like a ballet, is all about making it beautiful, expressing yourself with confidence and flair. Remember that, and you'll have me twirling along with you all the way!

That’s it for this time. Until next time, dear readers, dance and sparkle!

With all my love,

Emma xx
