Bristol Belle: A Tutu-ful Train Journey and a Pancake Dream (Post #1038)

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite tutu-toting, ballet-obsessed blogger, Emma, signing in from the bustling city of Bristol. Today’s adventure started with a gloriously sunny morning in Derbyshire, with a hint of a crisp, springtime breeze whispering promises of warm days to come. I woke up, naturally, already dreaming in pink (couldn't be anything else!), and feeling like a sugar-spun fairy princess with the urge to twirl. So, a good stretch, a cup of rosy-hued hibiscus tea, and a breakfast of sugared raspberries, and I was off!

But before you picture me soaring through the air, remember I'm a Derbyshire girl, born and bred. No wings for this bird – I’m firmly rooted to the ground (and the occasional pair of pointe shoes)! Instead of my usual gallop to the stable for a ride on my trusty chestnut mare, I opted for a leisurely journey by train. I swear, there's just something magical about travelling by rail. It’s all about the plush velvet seats, the clinking of the tea trolley, the scenery flashing past your window, and of course, the excuse to dress up!

And dress up I did! Today's look? Think Parisian chic with a sprinkle of fairy dust – a crisp white shirt, a billowing blush pink midi skirt, a smattering of dainty pearls, and my absolute pièce de résistance: a glorious, shimmering pink tutu, just begging to be spun! You see, I've been obsessed with pancake tutus lately, and this particular one, made of delicate tulle and sprinkled with little shimmering stars, had been calling my name. I may be in my twenties, but darling, a little bit of magic never goes out of fashion.

As the train pulled into Bristol, I couldn't help but feel a wave of excitement. I’d been longing for a visit to this lively city, filled with art galleries, quirky shops, and, oh my goodness, an incredible vegan cafe that promised the best pancakes in Bristol! My taste buds were already tingling with anticipation.

But first, a spot of ballet. It wouldn't be a proper Emma trip without some twirling and pirouettes! I had a class lined up at the prestigious Bristol Ballet School, tucked away in a charming Victorian building. The energy inside the studio was palpable, with the air buzzing with excitement. You could practically hear the "chassé" in the air.

I settled into a spot at the barre, warmed up my muscles with some gentle plies and relevés, and soon I was lost in the joy of moving my body, feeling every fibre of my being come alive through the beautiful movements of ballet. The instructors, bless them, were full of passion and encouragement, and by the end of the class, I was grinning like a child with a new tutu, feeling totally inspired.

After the ballet, I finally rewarded myself with the much-awaited pancakes – and oh, they did not disappoint! Fluffy, golden-brown, and smothered with juicy strawberries, whipped cream, and a generous drizzle of maple syrup. Honestly, they were heavenly!

Now, darling, you've heard of my passion for ballet and all things pink, but I’m also quite smitten with the animal kingdom, especially those creatures with feathers. Bristol's stunning Bristol Zoo was calling my name, so off I went, eager to witness a peacock parade. Now, you might think I'd be all about the gorgeous vibrant colours of those majestic creatures, but there's something about their elegance, their regality that fascinates me. Just like the art of ballet, their movements are a testament to beauty and grace.

The afternoon flew by as I marvelled at the incredible biodiversity of the zoo, from the majestic gorillas to the playful monkeys. Even the little squirrel scampering along the branches had me feeling utterly enchanted. The animals were all beautifully cared for, and I could feel a sense of awe at the wonder of nature.

As the sun began its descent, casting long shadows across the city, I wandered back through Bristol’s charming streets, my heart full of happy memories. You see, there’s something special about Bristol; it’s a city that vibrates with energy, with a captivating charm and an infectious enthusiasm.

Tonight, I’ll be settling in for a delicious vegan feast and watching a thrilling contemporary ballet performance, courtesy of Bristol's renowned Ballet Theatre. Yes, my dears, it’s been another glorious day filled with dance, nature, and that essential dose of pink. After all, isn’t that what life’s all about? Twirling with joy, embracing beauty, and spreading a little bit of pink wherever you go.

I hope you've enjoyed this little peek into my adventures in Bristol. And remember, my darlings, never stop believing in the magic of pink and the power of a twirl. Until next time, stay pink and keep dancing!

Love, Emma
