Coventry Calling! Tutu Tales #1043

Hello my darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind weekend in Coventry, and oh my goodness, you won't believe the adventures I had! As you know, my motto is "every day is a chance to twirl" and Coventry did not disappoint.

This weekend's adventures started with a splendid journey on the train. I love those journeys where you watch the world whizz by, all those little towns and green fields – the countryside is just so picturesque. I had my usual train travel attire: pink tutu, obviously! (The matching pink lipstick really popped, too.) I felt a little out of place amongst the businessman suits and backpacks but who cares, it's about living life to the fullest, right? Besides, the little old lady beside me actually told me I was “looking absolutely fabulous,” and who could argue with that?!

I arrived in Coventry buzzing with excitement, ready to experience its beauty and culture. First stop? The majestic Coventry Cathedral. It was truly breathtaking, that vast, modern space - a place of peace and beauty. And the stained glass windows… stunning. I twirled right there in the middle of it, the acoustics were fabulous - just imagine that for a recital! And wouldn't it be so dreamy if every cathedral in the country was pink? Imagine! The possibilities for tutu performances are endless!

I have to tell you, one of the best things about Coventry is its bustling city centre. It's such a lively, welcoming place. After my cathedral twirl, I did a little shopping, and I found the perfect new pink tutu! It's a beautiful pale blush, just perfect for a summer ball. I knew instantly it was the one. It just felt right!

The real highlight of my trip was seeing a ballet performance at the Belgrade Theatre. The whole evening was just… magical. The dancers were phenomenal. Every jump, every pirouette, every leap was a symphony of grace and strength. My heart actually ached a little from the beauty of it. Seeing them perform with such passion and skill really reminds me why I love ballet so much. There’s a magic to ballet, isn't there? That sense of weightlessness and freedom... that connection between the music, the body, the stage, and the audience… It just transports you to a different place entirely. I could practically smell the fresh scent of pine and the sound of the tinkling stream in the woodland… that’s the magic of dance.

And let's not forget about the music, which added to the overall enchanting atmosphere! The orchestra sounded incredible. I love it when the sound of the strings swells, and the drums echo with a power that just makes you want to leap into the air yourself. The beautiful costumes, the elegant sets… it was just one perfect moment after another.

Speaking of costumes, can we talk about my white tutu I was wearing? I just couldn't resist pairing it with my favourite blush pink lipstick. A true colour match made in heaven, don't you think? I had several compliments on my look. One man even compared my twirling to the grace of a ballerina swan, which made my day.

After the show, I treated myself to a scrumptious supper at a quaint cafe. The cherry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream was a real treat, the perfect ending to a perfect evening! I have to say, Coventry definitely lived up to its reputation as a hidden gem, especially if you're a ballet-loving, pink-loving girl like me! There was so much beauty to be found in the streets, in the cathedral, and at the theatre, and not to mention the delicious food, which always makes my heart sing!

Next weekend? I'm off to Derby to take in a horse racing event. Now I just have to choose which tutu I'll be wearing... perhaps the classic white or maybe the new pink one I found?

The decision, like most of the good ones, will be a difficult one! Whatever I choose, I know I'll be twirling through Derby in true pink-tutu style. Because remember my darlings, every day is a chance to twirl! Stay fabulous, and don’t forget to wear pink!

Love, Emma xxx
