Oxford Dreams in a Feather Tutu: Blog Post #1062

Hello my darlings!

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and this girl is on her way to Oxford! Yes, I've finally taken the plunge and am exploring the historic beauty of this English city. You all know I'm a sucker for a good train journey, so I decided to ditch the car for this trip and let the iron horse whisk me away on a whimsical adventure. The scent of wildflowers, the chatter of passengers, the rhythmic rumble of the train... pure bliss!

Now, some of you may be wondering, "Emma, how does one travel to Oxford wearing a tutu?" Well, my dear friends, you haven't met the right kind of tutu. This beauty, hand-crafted with the finest pink feathers and a smattering of shimmering sequins, is built for adventures! It's a masterpiece of elegance, airy lightness, and, dare I say, practicality! Imagine how easy it is to waltz down the aisle of the train with such a magnificent accessory. Heads turn, smiles spread, and for a brief moment, we're all united in the love for a little twirl!

Speaking of twirls, I'm making my way to Oxford for a grand evening of ballet at the Sheldonian Theatre. This historical beauty of a building has been hosting theatre since 1664! Imagine all the stories it's witnessed! This performance promises to be absolutely dazzling with an adaptation of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake featuring world-renowned ballerinas. It's going to be exquisite, and I'm thrilled to soak up all the magic in this stunning setting. I already feel my inspiration blossoming like a blooming rose, just waiting to be captured in a swirling pirouette.

Oxford has a certain charm that’s almost impossible to describe. The honey-coloured stone buildings seem to whisper secrets of a forgotten age. Even the cobblestone streets and the murmuring River Thames hold a sense of timeless grace. It’s a place where dreams take flight, quite literally!

This city also holds a special place in my heart because of its association with Lewis Carroll and his enchanting Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. How could I resist walking the very same streets where Alice met the Mad Hatter, chased the White Rabbit, and tumbled down the rabbit hole into a world of fantasy? I even indulged in a delightful cup of tea at the cafe at The Randolph Hotel, which, just for you, happens to have an Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea. And let's be honest, tea and tutus are the ultimate pairing, just ask any Derbyshire girl!

But this city isn't just about fairytales. It's also a centre of academic brilliance, a haven for curious minds, and a place where dreams become reality. The very air feels imbued with a spirit of adventure and creativity. Every corner holds a secret waiting to be discovered, a hidden garden, or a whispered piece of history.

Of course, I'm also eager to experience the bustling university life. The energy here is simply infectious, buzzing with young minds sparking, ideas colliding, and laughter echoing down the cobbled streets. The city feels alive, full of a vibrancy that's truly captivating. Who knows, maybe I'll even find some local talent in a tucked-away dance studio or maybe even start a little tutu revolution, inspiring Oxford students to twirl in pink and join the ballet community!

My love for ballet knows no boundaries, and Oxford seems to be a perfect place to share this passion with the world. I might even spot some deer in the parks (the wild creatures that inspired me to take up ballet in the first place), and, hopefully, take a spin on the university's rowing teams' boats. Just imagine the elegant ballet pose I can do while gliding through the picturesque canals... A swan, in my feather tutu, traversing the very water that inspired the Swan Lake story... I'm already feeling like I'm living in a fairytale!

But no journey is complete without a touch of pink. So, if you find yourself wandering through the streets of Oxford, don't be surprised if you see a flurry of feathers, a whimsical laugh, and a girl with pink tutus on a mission to inspire everyone to dance! Remember, dear readers, life's too short to take it all seriously. So put on your own pink tutus, step out of your comfort zone, and twirl your way to a happier world!

See you in the next post, where I’ll share all about the performance! And in the meantime, keep your feathers fluffed, your toes pointed, and your heart open to the magic of life!

With twirls and kisses,

Emma
