Walton-upon-Thames: Tutu Tales from a Pink Paradise (Post #1127)

Hello my darling darlings! It's Emma, your favourite tutu-loving, pink-obsessed ballet butterfly, writing to you from the beautiful and charming town of Walton-upon-Thames! I'm so excited to share my adventures with you - and what adventures they have been!

I’ve been living my absolute best life this week. I’ve had my fair share of ballet, of course - that’s always top of the agenda! But, I also took a trip to the glorious theatre and oh my, the ballet was absolutely divine! Imagine a swirl of tulle and a flurry of pink… oh, how it filled me with joy! 🩰 I'll be posting more about that show later on, but for now, let's get back to my fabulous day in Walton-upon-Thames.

As a dedicated ballet enthusiast, my journey there started with a magical horse-drawn carriage ride. It may seem like a whimsical fairy tale, but believe me, it's possible! You can actually rent these lovely horse-drawn carriages in some parts of Britain – and they add a touch of utter elegance and magic to any occasion. Honestly, I felt like Cinderella escaping the ball… without losing a slipper, of course!

Once in Walton-upon-Thames, I made my way to the charming, ancient town centre. I'm a sucker for history and the cobbled streets, quaint shops, and the gorgeous architecture here took me right back in time.

Then, of course, came the ballet! You all know how much I love to learn new steps and explore different dance styles, so naturally, I couldn't resist a class at Walton-upon-Thames’s very own dance school. It was just what I needed to feel truly alive. It wasn’t just the fabulous routines and the sheer joy of movement that filled my day with glee… it was the other dancers, you know, that camaraderie and energy that’s so unique to ballet. It truly made my heart sing!

But you see, darling, a pink-tutu loving girl like me can't just go to ballet and not wear her beloved pink tutu, can she? Well, not a full pink tutu, that is. You’d be shocked by the sheer number of things I've tried on - ballet classes in a full tutu don’t go down quite as well! I found myself, however, sporting a delightful, light pink ballet skirt, complete with a delicate chiffon ruffle. I'm thinking it might be a new addition to my dance wardrobe. 🤫

Of course, what’s a girl to do in such a gorgeous place, with her pink skirt in tow? I had to enjoy a delectable cream tea at one of Walton’s lovely cafes. The pastries were as divine as the tea, but let's be honest – my biggest love was, undoubtedly, the view. They’ve got a gorgeous river running through the heart of the town – perfect for lazy strolls with the locals and adorable dogs.

Later on, I spent a little time soaking up the beauty of Walton-upon-Thames' wildlife. This town boasts a stunning nature reserve, where I found myself surrounded by curious birds and cheeky squirrels. Did you know you can actually get to know squirrels just like you know dogs? Just talk to them – I even had one posing for me in front of my camera, if that's not cute enough, I don't know what is! 😉

But that's not all, my loves! I found myself in the heart of London before you knew it. The trip on the train? Simply blissful! Honestly, darling, have you ever travelled on a British train and simply felt the peace, the gorgeous green rolling fields flitting past your window, and the cosy atmosphere? It’s practically a holiday in itself!

London, the hub of all things glamorous and exciting. Naturally, I had to explore the iconic theatre district. The air just pulsated with life – the lights, the chatter, the energy - just magical! It felt as though my every move was leading to something incredible… and indeed it did, for I happened upon a breathtaking ballet show that stole my breath away. It was such a gorgeous, elaborate affair with captivating choreography and elegant dancers that simply blew my mind. Honestly, every aspect of that night felt like a dream, even if the dress code required an absence of pink tutus! (Oh how I wished to twirl around the theatre in my tutu. My heart, of course, twirled with joy anyway!)

I know, darling, you might think that was the perfect end to the day. But for me, true bliss involves a little sprinkle of adventure and a little dash of the unexpected.

You know, on a whim, I took a trip down to a hidden alleyway and, believe me when I say, the best of London is hidden away down tiny streets and unexpected spots! This hidden alley, it had this vibrant street art, it was a riot of colour, it was beautiful. And on the far side of the alleyway, nestled between two little boutiques, I found… well, I found something simply exquisite! It was the sweetest little floral shop, brimming with the most vibrant flowers in all the world!

But don’t be fooled, darling. It wasn’t the flowers themselves that I was completely captivated by. You see, it’s my lifelong dream to one day open my own floral shop. You all know this - my ultimate dream is to open up a fabulous shop that not only offers the most gorgeous bouquets but also sells… oh, you guessed it: pink tutus, of course!

Imagine a little oasis filled with flowers and tutu joy, with pink ribbons twirling through the air! The sheer joy would be enough to make even the grumpiest soul smile, and even encourage the shyest souls to twirl. Imagine the endless possibilities, my dear darlings! And yes, it might sound mad, this big pink tutu and floral shop dream… but madness and pink tutus - well, they are often the things that bring the most happiness, right?

But right now, as my little tale comes to a close, I’m reflecting on all the wonders this magical adventure has shown me – from the breathtaking nature reserves to the vibrant art in a London alleyway – all whilst twirling through the most wonderful ballets. I've discovered the true magic lies in appreciating the simple things: the beauty of nature, the delight of a great ballet, and the sheer happiness that a pink tutu can bring. It’s these things, that, like my pink tutus, will continue to make me happy for the rest of my days!

Oh, and my dear lovelies, if you’re still not convinced, do please pop by my blog, www.pink-tutu.com. I have lots more adventures to share with you - after all, it’s just getting started!
