Finchley: Where Purple Reigns and Tutues Take Flight (Post #1129)

Hello my lovely tutu-loving darlings! 🩰💖

Emma here, your resident pink-obsessed, tutu-tastic blogger, back with another adventure! Today's journey takes me from my little Derbyshire home, straight into the heart of London, and all the way to Finchley. Buckle up, because this post is gonna be full of whimsical fashion, exciting theatre, and enough pink to make your heart skip a beat!

Firstly, let's talk outfits. Obviously, I couldn't just waltz into Finchley (ha! get it?) without a dazzling ensemble. My chosen attire today is a lilac-hued tutu – yes, I know, a little more purple than pink, but sometimes a girl needs a touch of whimsy! The sheer fabric of the tutu dances with every movement, like a graceful butterfly taking flight. It's topped with a vintage, pink silk blouse with delicate lace detailing. Oh, and I just couldn't resist adding a touch of glitter – because let's be honest, life is too short for boring outfits!

Now, the reason for my London trip: the National Theatre's production of 'The Sleeping Beauty'! My love for ballet is no secret, but the opportunity to witness this timeless classic on such a grand stage? Well, it's simply a dream come true.

Before I even step foot into the theatre, I find myself caught up in the lively atmosphere. London is abuzz with a delightful mixture of excitement and sophistication, and Finchley, despite being a bit less bustling than the centre of town, has a certain charming elegance that resonates with my love for vintage flair.

The theatre itself is a masterpiece. The architectural details are stunning, the rich red velvet seats embrace you like a warm hug, and the air itself tingles with anticipation. As the curtains rise and the stage comes alive with breathtaking choreography, my heart beats to the rhythm of the music, my toes tapping involuntarily beneath the luxurious velvet seats. It's like the story comes alive before my very eyes, filling me with wonder and a surge of inspiration.

After the show, my feet are already aching for some proper dancing! I must confess, London always brings out the ballet fanatic in me. It’s in the air! So I head to a nearby ballet studio for a late-night class. Now, you may think a late-night class wouldn’t be ideal after such a magical performance, but for me, it's a perfect way to channel the inspiration into movement and stretch out those tired but happy muscles. The warmth of the studio, the friendly faces, and the joy of dancing under the twinkling fairy lights…it’s magic!

Before hopping back on the train to Derbyshire, I have to do a little exploring. Finchley has a lovely village green, and after my little dance, I take a stroll through the park, admiring the manicured gardens and the vibrant colours of the wildflowers. I can't help but feel that this place is full of beauty and charm, almost as if it was plucked straight from a classic fairy tale.

Of course, no adventure would be complete without some wildlife encounters. There’s something magical about London's unexpected pockets of green space, like little hidden worlds filled with critters and nature's magic. Today, I have a close encounter with a friendly squirrel who seemed particularly curious about my sparkly tutu. He nibbled on some nuts I found on the ground, and for a few brief moments, we just sat together in a silent harmony of nature and fashion.

And what would a trip to Finchley be without a taste of local delights? The quaint shops and cafes offer some tempting treats. After all that dancing and strolling, a cuppa and a scone with jam and cream is an absolute must! I don't know what's better: the warm, fresh baked treat or the lovely lady behind the counter, who greets me with a warm smile and offers to take a photo of me with my favourite scone (in my purple tutu, of course).

Now, as I settle back in Derbyshire, surrounded by the quiet of the countryside, my mind replays the dazzling performances and whimsical adventures. Finchley, with its captivating blend of historical grandeur and enchanting charm, will stay in my heart, just like a beautiful melody or a perfectly executed pirouette.

Remember, darling, a little pink tutu magic can take you anywhere. Whether it’s waltzing through London streets or twirling under a starry sky, embrace your inner ballerina and spread joy with a twinkle in your eye!

Stay tuned for more adventures from your Tutu-tastic Travel Diary! Until next time, keep on dancing, and keep the pink dream alive! 💖

Love always,

Emma xoxo www.pink-tutu.com
