Leith: Tutu Travels #1173

Hello my gorgeous darlings!

How are you all today? I'm bubbling over with excitement after an incredible day in Leith. Oh, the adventure! It's like a dream come true, and I've been soaking it all up with my little pink tutu fluttering in the Scottish breeze!

First off, a little update on my new obsession. Have I mentioned I'm obsessed with pink tutus lately? Well, it's true! I have a whole new wardrobe dedicated to these amazing frilly beauties! They're just so fun and glamorous, and I'm always looking for new places to wear them. Leith has been the perfect setting for a pink tutu parade.

After hopping onto a delightful train from Derby this morning, I arrived in Leith with my trusty pink tutu nestled in my bag, just waiting for the perfect moment to be unleashed. My heart was singing the minute I stepped out of the station, it was like something straight out of a ballet! Cobbled streets, quirky shops and a sense of bustling history – I couldn't wait to explore.

First stop, a beautiful cafe nestled between an art gallery and an old bakery, just like in a fairytale. The aroma of fresh coffee and warm bread filled the air, inviting me to take a seat in a quaint corner. While enjoying a latte, I caught a glimpse of my own reflection in a dusty windowpane. My bright pink tutu suddenly popped into focus! I smiled, adjusting the ruffled tulle, feeling like the only pink feather in a field of grey. It was delightful!

A little bit of shopping was essential, of course! The shops here in Leith are full of wonderful treasures. I picked up a beautifully embroidered silk scarf, perfect for adding a little more whimsy to my tutu-clad outfits, and some delicious Scottish fudge. I was particularly fond of the flavour with honey and cranberries – divine!

With my stomach and shopping bags full, it was time for a cultural excursion. The waterfront called out to me! So I wandered through the bustling harbour, my tutu swaying in the sea breeze, and found a captivating little theatre. As I peered into the dark space through the window, I could hear the echoes of rehearsal – a pianist was warming up and the faint murmur of voices resonated with a shared passion. You guessed it – Ballet!

A bit later, I found myself at a community ballet studio on the other side of the town, joining in for an afternoon class. Let me tell you, these locals know how to move! They made me laugh with their genuine joy and love of dance. They might not be dancing en pointe or wearing the most intricate tutus, but their passion was as powerful as a thousand pirouettes!

That evening, I walked through the darkening streets, the twinkling lights of the buildings adding to the fairytale atmosphere. As I made my way to the sound of a distant accordion, a quaint little street performer appeared. The tunes danced in the air, like notes written in a love song. I was captivated! A local dog owner, her fluffy white terrier on a lead, caught my eye and let out a delighted bark.

"Well, you look very grand," she said with a wink.

I smiled and curtsied with a flourish, "Thank you!"

Her sweet little dog even let out a small yap in appreciation, before darting off in a frenzy of playful hops and bounds, a graceful little ballerina himself! I was touched by the simple joy, the love shared between this human and their furry friend, it warmed me more than any fireplace ever could.

As the stars began to appear in the velvet night sky, I realised how deeply charmed I was by this unique and captivating corner of Scotland. The feeling was pure magic! It felt like Leith had a heart of its own, and I, for one, had fallen for it completely. And then it happened. A gust of wind blew through, a gentle reminder that Scotland had something special to offer: wild beauty! And that wildness? That's what makes me tick. It's the spirit of adventure, the unpredictable twists and turns of life. And I love it!

It’s this passion for adventure that brings me to a quiet forest on the edge of Leith. My pink tutu may have been packed away in my bag now, but my heart still sings, This time it’s for a different kind of performance, the performance of nature! A small deer leaps across a path, a grey squirrel scutters through the undergrowth, I even spy a majestic eagle perched high up in a tree, Nature at its best, free and spirited. And so am I.

And so as I lie down on a carpet of moss and ferns, with the forest symphony playing around me, I can't help but think about how much magic can be found in even the smallest corners of the world, and how the thrill of discovering something new never gets old.

That’s all for today my dearest, I’ve to dash! But you can catch me on www.pink-tutu.com tomorrow.

Until next time, keep dancing, keep exploring and most importantly…wear a pink tutu.

Love, Emma.
