Nottingham: A Tutu-tastic Time!

Oh darling, Nottingham, you have captured my heart! It's just a hop, skip, and jump from my Derbyshire home by train - my favourite way to travel - so it was a cinch to reach the bustling city centre in my favourite pink tutu and be ready to explore. My motto: a little pink never hurts!

I arrived with a feeling of excitement that could rival a packed house at the Royal Opera House. I'd heard Nottingham had a fabulous dance scene, and I couldn't wait to delve in and soak up all the inspiring energy! I must say, I'm utterly enchanted by this town. From its historic charm to its vibrant energy, there's something for everyone!

My mission: To discover the best ballet in Nottingham, and of course, inspire more people to take up the art form. After all, life is too short to be anything but graceful, right? And as every good dancer knows, it all starts with a tutu!

First Stop: The Nottingham Ballet Theatre

As soon as I stepped inside the theatre, a sense of awe and wonder washed over me. The beautiful building is a testament to the artistic heritage of Nottingham. There were whispers of Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, classics that truly move the soul. I'm hoping to catch their next production!

A Spot of Lunch and the City's Secret Gems

No visit to Nottingham is complete without a pit stop at the Malt Cross - it’s one of my favourite places for a delightful lunch. The stunningly restored Victorian music hall serves up delicious food. After indulging in some delectable afternoon tea, I felt rejuvenated and ready for a little more exploring. I simply couldn't resist adding some more Nottingham memories to my Instagram feed.

And speaking of Insta-worthy places, I stumbled upon the cutest little bookshop tucked away in a quiet corner. "The Book Nook" - perfect name! They had a whole section dedicated to the arts. I couldn’t leave without a copy of “Ballet for Beginners.”

From Ballerina to Wildlife Enthusiast!

You know I have a huge passion for ballet but there's something magical about spending time with nature too! I can't resist exploring the local parks. So, after a delicious lunch and a dose of culture, I took a leisurely stroll through the lush gardens of Wollaton Hall, which is practically a wildlife haven! Imagine my delight when I spotted a deer basking in the afternoon sun.

A Farewell to Nottingham… For Now!

Nottingham, I'll be back! You've truly stolen a piece of my heart with your warm hospitality and infectious energy. Until then, I'll be busy practicing my pirouettes in the Derbyshire countryside. Who knows, I might even try to convince my dear horses to give ballet a go - imagine, horses wearing tutus! I may just need to add pink ribbons to their tails, wouldn't that be spectacular?

To all my tutu-lovers out there, remember, ballet is for everyone! Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, the grace and joy of movement are something we can all share. So, go on, put on your favourite pink tutu, dance like nobody’s watching, and spread the love of ballet!

Lots of love and tutu hugs,

Emma xx
