Plymouth Calling! A Tutu Adventure in the South West ๐Ÿฉฐ

Hello my lovely lot,

Well, what a weekend I've had! After a couple of weeks in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside, where the rolling hills met the sky and the air was crisp with the promise of spring, it was time for a change of scenery. And by change of scenery, I mean Plymouth, darling! Yes, I swapped the sheep for seagulls, the fresh Derbyshire air for the salty tang of the Atlantic, and you know what? I'm in love.

This was no ordinary train journey either. I booked myself onto the overnight sleeper, my trusty tutu packed in its pink velvet bag. You know I love a bit of glamorous travel, and a sleeping carriage is just pure magic! The gentle sway of the train lulled me to sleep as dreams of pirouettes and pas de deux danced in my head.

When I awoke to the gentle sounds of the sea lapping against the shore, I felt a sense of utter peace wash over me. The sunrise painted the sky in vibrant hues of pink and orange, reminding me that even in the deepest parts of the country, a touch of pink never hurts!

But it wasn't just the scenic delights that brought me to Plymouth. No, this was a ballet mission! I'd heard whisperings about an exciting new ballet company that had popped up in this beautiful port city, and let's just say I wasn't going to miss it!

Plymouth Dance Company: A New Era of Grace

After grabbing a delicious pasty, you can't go to Cornwall without one, right? I ventured down to the Theatre Royal. The Victorian elegance of the building perfectly matched the classical atmosphere inside. My heart thumped with excitement as I saw the curtain rising.

The programme for the night was a tantalising mix of new and traditional ballet. The company truly surprised me. Every step and turn was infused with such precision, and a genuine love for the art form. They performed with such passion that I felt a sense of joy so deep it nearly brought tears to my eyes.

And, it was like a pink paradise! I'm not exaggerating. Every single ballerina wore a shade of pink in their tutus. Some flirted with coral, while others went full-blown flamingo pink. My pink loving heart nearly exploded with glee! I was absolutely mesmerised, my tutu even felt the need to do a little pirouette in its bag. It was, frankly, beautiful!

After the show, I couldn't resist venturing behind the scenes to say hello to the company. They were so friendly and generous with their time, answering my million and one questions. The dancers' enormous energy and infectious enthusiasm for their craft reminded me why I fall in love with ballet all over again each day.

But there was even more in store. Plymouth is home to some amazing wildlife! And you know I love a bit of nature!

Seafaring & Salty Snuggles

The next morning I went on a whale and dolphin watching trip. It's not something I often get to do in Derbyshire! The boat sliced through the choppy waves as I gazed out for signs of our finned friends. And let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed! I saw dolphins playing in the waves, and the massive, powerful presence of a huge whale just filled me with wonder! It was a sight I'll never forget.

I also made sure to pay a visit to Plymouth's National Marine Aquarium, a must-see if you're in town! The diverse array of sea life left me simply speechless. There's everything from sharks and sea turtles to colourful corals and mysterious creatures that seem to belong to another world.

The Takeaway:

Plymouth really won my heart! It's the perfect blend of history, culture and nature, and you know I love all of that!

Now, for my challenge this week... I want you to share with me what YOU love about Plymouth! Share your favourite memories, your go-to spots, your local finds, and let's create a collective love letter to this enchanting place.

And of course, let's talk about pink tutus! Can't go to a city on the coast without bringing that ocean-blue colour into our wardrobe. If you need any help rocking that tutu in your city, just drop me a message.

Until next time, my beautiful tutu tribe. Stay pink and keep dancing!
