Batley Bound: A Yellow Tutu Adventure!

Post Number 1364

Hello darlings! It’s your girl, Emma, writing to you from a sunny (and slightly breezy) Batley, Yorkshire. I can already hear you thinking, "Batley? What's in Batley?" Well, let me tell you, this little town has more charm than you'd imagine, and it’s definitely been good to me this week.

First of all, let’s talk about this week's sartorial choice. My go-to colour, of course, is pink, but I wanted to embrace some springtime vibrancy for this adventure. So, what colour screamed "spring" and "fun" to me? Yellow! I strutted through Batley with a magnificent, sunshine yellow tutu swirling around me, and honestly, it was pure magic. You could feel the joy radiating from it!

Why did I choose Batley for my little escapade? Well, the answer lies in the heart of dance. A beautiful little ballet studio, The Dance Academy had invited me to come and talk about my passion - that's right, ballet! It was a joy to share my story with the young dancers. So many of them had the spark in their eyes, the love of movement and the longing for expression. You could feel their passion bubbling up with every little tendu and plie!

Speaking of my passion for ballet, I got to watch a phenomenal performance of Swan Lake by the Yorkshire Ballet company at the wonderful Batley Theatre. Oh my gosh, the artistry was divine. The dancers' grace, their power, the elegance of the movements – it made me want to rush back to my ballet class and perfect my pirouette! This was a real performance with professional dancers, beautiful costumes, a magnificent orchestra… I even snuck backstage to meet a few of the dancers afterwards! (They were SO lovely).

Speaking of backstage and loveliness… Did you know, my journey to Batley was particularly exciting? My best friend, Millie, bought me a ride on a carriage pulled by horses, a gorgeous bay mare called Holly and her dashing partner, Harry! I had to keep reminding myself to keep my skirt clean and avoid getting my yellow tutu muddy! They took us along cobbled lanes and paths and through gorgeous countryside with the sun warming my face and the scent of blossom in the air… Pure romance!

My day wouldn't be complete without some nature, would it? We visited the gorgeous Oakwell Hall Country Park, where the trees stood proud, reaching for the sky. It's so tranquil, a real escape from the bustling city life! I watched a little fox dart through the woods (very cute) and a gaggle of geese waddling down the paths (hilarious!).

And for those of you who know me, a trip like this is not complete without an absolutely divine meal! We dined at The Secret Garden Restaurant with its charming décor and delicious food – I indulged in a creamy, pink mushroom risotto! It was so good.

And let’s not forget about my evening – you know I love me some karaoke! We hit The Red Lion for a spot of "My Heart Will Go On," (with the perfect dramatic tutu flair, naturally) and I managed to belt out a few "A Thousand Years" while I sipped a glass of prosecco. It was so much fun!

As you can tell, I'm absolutely smitten with Batley. I'm leaving here with a happy heart, a head full of inspiration and some of the best memories! You know what they say - if you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done. That’s why I love trying new places and meeting new people - you never know what adventures await!

If you’re thinking of a weekend getaway, Batley is definitely worth considering!

Before I go, I have one little question for you - how’s your tutu game looking? It's time to embrace those feminine twirls and let your inner ballerina shine. Remember, life is too short to be boring!

Stay twirling!

Emma
