South Shields: Tutu Tales and Seaside Charms

Post Number: 1374

Hello my darling tutus,

How are you all? I hope you're twirling, plying and leaping with joy wherever you are!

It's been a while since I last blogged, but let me tell you, life's been one big, glorious pirouette lately! Today, I'm taking you on a little trip to South Shields, a delightful coastal town that charmed the very tutu out of me!

You see, my darlings, a good ballerina can never resist a trip by the seaside. There's something magical about the salty air, the rhythmic waves and the endless blue horizon that stirs the creative juices and makes the heart beat a little faster.

And South Shields did not disappoint! I'm pretty sure I caught a glimpse of a seal basking in the sun on the beach, which made my day! There’s something special about these magnificent creatures. Their graceful movements in the water inspire me so much. It's no wonder ballet dancers are drawn to their elegance.

Now, I arrived in style, of course! Forget stuffy train carriages – this darling tutu girl loves nothing more than galloping through the countryside on horseback!

I am lucky to be surrounded by wonderful horses, thanks to my friend Holly, whose family has owned a stable for years. And the view from atop their horses, with the wind whipping through my hair as I gracefully cantered towards my destination, well, that just added an extra layer of ballet magic to my journey.

My first stop in South Shields was, naturally, the grand and oh-so-fabulous South Shields Museum & Art Gallery. You can imagine the joy that welled up in my ballet heart when I discovered the exquisite Victorian Ballet Costume collection. Just divine, darling!

I have a deep appreciation for all eras of ballet history, but something about the artistry and attention to detail in those old costumes truly inspires me. Imagine the stories they could tell - tales of triumph, grace, and endless twirls! I was entranced!

I even spotted a tutu in the collection! Not exactly a vibrant pink like my usual fare, mind you, but a beautiful, elegant white. It reminded me that even the simplest colour can be breathtakingly beautiful when designed with such care and grace.

After a delightful lunch by the seaside – with, of course, a generous amount of fresh seafood – I strolled through the heart of South Shields. I felt inspired to create a new routine based on the rhythmic sound of the waves crashing against the shore, the sun dipping low in the sky casting long shadows, the chattering gulls, the colourful fishing boats and all the enchanting sounds and smells of a lively seaside town.

This town had so much to offer! The Tynemouth Priory & Castle is an incredible architectural wonder, perched right on the cliffs. And let’s not forget Ocean Beach, which stretches out as far as the eye can see. It's so very cinematic! The whole scene transported me to a world of swirling tulle and captivating storytelling.

Of course, I had to break out my signature black tutu for a few photos – this was, after all, the ultimate ballet moment in this charming seaside town. The wind, the sea, the waves, the sunshine all came together to create the most magical atmosphere, perfect for unleashing my inner prima ballerina! I had to twirl! And the world just had to witness this tutu-licious spectacle, wouldn’t you agree?

So, what did I learn from my South Shields adventures? Well, firstly, that a pink tutu is truly the ultimate travel companion. Whether I'm galloping across Derbyshire fields, twirling by the seaside or gliding through a grand theatre, it's always a joy to share this love of ballet and all its wonders with the world.

My darlings, let's always remember that a tutu is not just a garment; it's a symbol of creativity, passion, joy, and endless possibilities!

Don’t forget to join me next time as we embark on another extraordinary journey! And in the meantime, I urge you all to embrace your inner dancer. Don your tutu! Let your imagination take flight, and never be afraid to twirl your way into a brighter tomorrow.

Love, Emma
