Burton upon Trent: A Purple Tutu Adventure! (Blog Post #1376)

Hey lovelies! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, writing to you from the beautiful town of Burton upon Trent! This little corner of Staffordshire has captured my heart (and my Instagram feed!) with its charming streets, friendly people, and – best of all – a glorious ballet show that I just had to share with you.

But before we get into the dazzling pirouettes and graceful leaps, let’s talk about my journey! Because, darlings, I couldn't resist making this trip extra special. This time, instead of the usual train, I decided to go for a truly magical experience: I rode a horse! Yes, you heard that right. Picture me, in my shimmering lavender tutu (yes, it's purple!), on horseback, galloping through the Derbyshire countryside. I felt like I was straight out of a fairytale!

The horse's name was Jasper, a gentle giant with a beautiful chestnut coat and the softest nose imaginable. He made the journey so relaxing, the wind whipping through my hair as I listened to the birds singing and admired the rolling green hills. It felt like a real escape from the city.

And that leads me perfectly to Burton upon Trent itself! Honestly, this town is a hidden gem. Imagine cobblestone streets lined with cute little cafes, quirky boutiques, and even a brewery that's been around for centuries! It felt like stepping back in time. After a hearty lunch (the lamb pie was to die for!) at a cosy little bistro, I took a leisurely stroll through the town centre. The people were so friendly, all happy to chat and share recommendations. It definitely felt like a community, which is something I really love about smaller towns.

Of course, no visit to Burton upon Trent would be complete without exploring its incredible heritage! I spent a glorious afternoon at the National Brewery Centre, learning all about the fascinating history of brewing. They even have an actual Victorian pub, where I had the chance to sample some locally brewed beer – cheers to that! Honestly, I didn’t expect to love brewery tours so much, but this one was truly enchanting!

Now, let's talk about the highlight of my trip: the ballet show at the Burton upon Trent Town Hall! I knew I had to see it, not just for the gorgeous costumes (which I may or may not have tried to copy, oops!) but for the incredible talent on stage. The company, the Burton Ballet Theatre, really blew me away. Their passion and artistry were simply divine.

The performance was a vibrant and lively adaptation of “Cinderella” – all shimmering gowns, twinkling fairy lights, and, of course, an abundance of magical, dazzling pirouettes. The set design was incredibly inventive, using just the right amount of glitz and glamour to create a truly enchanting world. And the choreography? Oh my goodness, it was like poetry in motion!

I actually got to meet one of the dancers, a lovely young woman named Lily. We chatted about everything from the joy of ballet to the importance of community theatre. She was incredibly down to earth and had this incredible energy – I was instantly inspired. She even told me about some amazing local ballet classes in the area! I might just have to stay a little longer than I planned…

Before I end this post, darling readers, I have a confession: my trip was inspired by a challenge I issued to myself! You see, I'm always trying to come up with ways to encourage people to wear pink tutus and experience the magic of ballet. So this month, I’m dedicating myself to a fun new challenge: to try something new for each ballet show I attend. This trip to Burton upon Trent with my purple tutu, my horse-riding adventure, and this magical "Cinderella" experience, felt like the perfect way to kick things off.

So, my dear followers, how can you get involved? Simple!

  1. Pick a Pink Tutu: Even if you haven't tried ballet before, I guarantee you'll love wearing a pink tutu. Pick one in your favourite colour, or even try out a different colour! Tutus are so much fun and make everything feel more magical.

  2. Visit a Ballet Show: I promise you, watching a live ballet performance is a truly moving experience. Search for performances in your area or, if you’re up for a little adventure, book a trip to somewhere like Burton upon Trent!

  3. Embrace the Unexpected: Sometimes, the most magical moments happen when you take a little risk and try something new. Maybe try taking a horse-riding lesson, or visit a brewery (and maybe sample a bit of the local beer). Who knows what incredible adventures await you!

Remember, my dear lovelies, the most important thing is to keep dancing, keep spreading joy, and always wear your pink tutu with confidence! And don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com every day for your daily dose of tutu-inspired inspiration! Until next time, happy dancing!

XOXO,

Emma
