Stratford-upon-Avon: A Fairytale in a Green Tutu

Hello my lovelies! It's Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, bringing you Post 1424 live from the heart of Shakespeare country.

Now, I've said it before and I'll say it again: there's nothing like a train journey to get your creative juices flowing. I always feel a little bit more myself when I'm whizzing along those tracks, gazing out the window at the changing landscape. Today, I was a proper English Rose, complete with a vintage suitcase and a pair of pearl earrings, and the journey itself felt like the opening scene of a ballet!

Of course, my trip wouldn't be complete without a dash of colour. Now, you know I adore pink (it's practically my signature hue, after all) but for my Shakespearean adventure, I went for a deep green tutu. Imagine, a vibrant emerald green swirling around me as I stepped out onto the cobbled streets! I was like a beautiful forest fairy, or maybe even a sassy Robin Hood! The colour green just feels so enchanting and magical. I’m seriously thinking of adopting it as my second favourite colour!

Speaking of magic, Stratford-upon-Avon truly is a place of wonder! As soon as I arrived, the town’s charming little streets just oozed history. You could feel Shakespeare's spirit everywhere, which is pretty impressive for a man who’s been dead for hundreds of years. There's so much character here, I honestly felt like I was transported back in time to his era, complete with cobblestones, half-timbered buildings and an enchanting atmosphere.

Naturally, I made a pilgrimage to the Royal Shakespeare Company’s theatre. I absolutely had to soak up all the creative energy of this incredible stage! It just radiates passion and dedication. As I took in the architectural details and imagined all the fantastic actors and ballerinas who've graced the stage, I was already sketching a whimsical scene in my head. One day, I’d love to perform on that stage – wouldn’t it be a dream?

You can bet I also ventured into Shakespeare's Birthplace, which was utterly delightful! I’m quite sure I met a couple of Shakespeare's ghosts while wandering those Tudor rooms, though they were much more eloquent than I ever hope to be! I mean, I love a bit of Shakespeare, but have you ever tried to understand his sonnets? The language is quite dense!

After the Shakespearean immersion, I found a charming little café and enjoyed a spot of tea and cake with the cutest little terrier, all dressed up in a pink polka dot coat. It really did make my afternoon!

One thing that’s really caught my eye here is the river. Oh, the river Avon is so very beautiful and calming, it’s the perfect place to clear my mind and practice a few ballet poses. You can picture me there now – twirling alongside the swan-shaped boats, my green tutu gently skimming the surface. And you just know, with my amazing imagination, I was already conjuring up some exciting choreography for a potential future ballet. We’ll see… it’s in the realm of possibility.

Of course, no day in Stratford would be complete without a touch of elegance. I went shopping and found this incredible hat – imagine a wide-brimmed sun hat, woven with bright pink ribbons! I practically squealed with delight in the shop – and of course, I knew it would make the most fabulous accessory for my green tutu. It’s the perfect combination of timeless and chic – just like my blog!

To top off my day, I had a glorious picnic overlooking the River Avon with a cheeky fox watching my every move. (Not actually cheeky, though he did give me the cutest little wink!). The golden light filtering through the leaves and the chirping of birds was so picturesque that I just had to whip out my camera to capture this magical moment. You'll find it posted on our website later this week, with a bit of poetry written from the fox's point of view, just for a touch of whimsy.

I always love getting your feedback on these blog posts, so make sure you head over to www.pink-tutu.com to share your thoughts and let me know what you'd like to hear about next!

P.S. And please, don't forget to send me your photos of you in your pink tutus! Remember, my aim in life is to make the world a little more sparkly, and I believe that we can all achieve it one pink tutu at a time. Until next time, darlings!

Keep twirling,

Emma
