Hitchin Highlights: Tutu Adventures in a Town Full of Charm (Post #1492)

Hey Tutu-lovers! Emma here, and guess what? This little Derbyshire lass is off on a new adventure. Yep, it's time to hop on a train (gotta love those old fashioned carriages!) and head to Hitchin, a town steeped in history with a touch of countryside charm, for some ballet magic!

Hitchin, with its quaint cobbled streets and half-timbered houses, felt like a setting straight out of a fairytale. And you know what I love about fairy tales? The twirling, the fluttering, the magical touch – oh, and pink! What better place to embrace this vibe than with my trusty, vibrant pink tutu? Yep, I've even gone all out for Hitchin – it’s an American-style, full-length pink number. Think frills, fluff, and just the right amount of sparkle! It’s the perfect combination of fun and femininity, and you can bet it’s going to be a total head-turner in this lovely town!

My first stop in Hitchin had to be the Hitchin Museum. With its grand architecture and historical exhibits, it’s like stepping into another era. I imagine all the elegant ladies and gentlemen of yore – did they wear tutus, I wonder? I mean, surely a dance was in order back then!

As I wandered through the cobbled streets, the shops and cafes were full of delightful delights. I snagged a pair of vintage ballet shoes from a quirky little store - gotta keep the ballerina look flowing! My tummy was starting to rumble (too much twirling can make you peckish!), so I tucked into a scrumptious afternoon tea at a delightful little café called The Pink Door. Think delicate finger sandwiches, mouthwatering scones, and a selection of perfectly brewed tea. They even served it with pink cupcakes – the perfect fuel for my tutu-wearing explorations.

Next, a quick detour to Hitchin’s beautiful St. Mary’s Church. It's like stepping into a tranquil haven with its beautiful stained glass windows and majestic architecture. I must say, the church's stained glass looked almost like a tutu, all flowing colours and captivating details. Could this be a sign to do a Tutu ballet routine in the church, I thought? Maybe one day!

Then came the main event – a visit to the Hitchin Lavender Field. It was absolutely glorious – rows upon rows of lavender blooming in hues of purple, lilac and violet. Now, let’s be honest, nothing quite screams girly like the colours of a lavender field, so it had to be on my list. Plus, I'd be lying if I didn’t admit to doing a few pirouettes in the field itself. With a swirling pink tutu, it felt like I’d become one with the fragrant air and beautiful blooms!

You see, Hitchin wasn’t just a stop on a map, it was a place to explore, to feel alive, to experience a vibrant ballet world, and to remind myself why I do what I do. It’s all about embracing that joy of movement, the love of colour, the beauty of the little details, and the confidence to be yourself, however extravagant it might seem. It's about embracing a tutu, a field of lavender, and celebrating life in its entirety – one twirl at a time!

Speaking of which, after my trip to Hitchin I headed to a fabulous ballet performance at the Coronation Hall. It featured ballet street dancers – a modern form of ballet with influences from hip-hop, contemporary and even traditional street dance. The choreography was breathtaking and the dancers were simply mesmerizing, with all that speed, power and fluidity! Their confidence and creativity inspired me, making me even more eager to share my passion with everyone. We all have the potential to be dancers.

So, that's Hitchin, a lovely little town that's big on charm and definitely has a special place in my tutu-wearing heart. It's a perfect blend of history and vibrancy, and, like any great ballerina, it definitely knew how to make an entrance.

But now, it’s time for a quick break to refresh the Tutu – after all, the road to dance (and a sparkly pink tutu) is always full of adventures! Keep an eye on www.pink-tutu.com for more travel diaries, ballet musings and adventures! Until next time, be sure to spread the pink love – it’s time to get everyone twirling!
