Kendal Calling: A Tutu-licious Trip to the Lake District!

#TutuBlog Post #1518 - 29th August, 2000

Hello my darling Tutu-ettes! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ’–

It's Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind weekend adventure in the stunning Lake District, and I'm absolutely buzzing to share all the pink-tastic details with you! This time, my journey took me on a fabulous train ride to Kendal, nestled amongst the lush greenery and dramatic peaks. The train ride was a pure joy; the rhythm of the tracks, the sunlit landscapes whizzing by... pure poetry! ๐Ÿš‚โœจ

But before I dive into the Kendal Calling festivities, let's talk fashion! Now, you know my love for tutus knows no bounds, and this trip called for a special kind of tutu magic. So, I packed my vibrant, show-stopping purple tutu. ๐Ÿ’œ Imagine a flurry of tulle, dancing with the wind as I explored the idyllic Lakeland scenery! Just thinking about it makes me want to twirl!

As always, I couldn't resist adding a pop of my signature pink. A bright pink cardigan, a cute little pink satchel bag (just big enough for my essential ballet essentials: hairspray, water, and my favourite pair of ballet shoes) - just a touch of pink to add a little oomph to my outfit!

Now, on to Kendal Calling! The festival was simply breathtaking! There was live music, comedy, workshops, food stalls - the lot! It was the perfect mix of vibrant energy and relaxed charm. I even spotted a few tutu-wearing friends (though they might have been just as surprised to see me as I was to see them!). ๐Ÿ˜‰

The highlight for me, though, was the opportunity to attend a special performance by the fantastic 'Northern Ballet' troupe. ๐Ÿฉฐ The performance was a mix of traditional ballet pieces and contemporary choreography, and I was utterly spellbound. Watching those dancers move with such grace and artistry was truly inspiring. It reminded me of why I fell in love with ballet in the first place - the magic of the movement, the sheer beauty, and the raw emotions that are expressed through each graceful leap and pirouette.

Speaking of grace and artistry, Kendal Calling isn't just about music and ballet, you know. It also boasts a gorgeous lakeside location, perfect for peaceful walks and enjoying the beauty of the Lakeland landscape. The vibrant, playful atmosphere of the festival contrasted beautifully with the serene majesty of the hills, making for a truly enchanting experience.

I can't even tell you how much I loved strolling through the local markets, browsing the crafts and indulging in some yummy homemade goodies. I found a beautiful vintage book on Victorian ballet costumes that I absolutely had to snag! (Because who can resist a beautiful vintage ballet book? Not this ballerina!)

My heart was truly touched by the kindness and warmth of the locals. They were so friendly and welcoming, and I even managed to chat with a local lady who taught me a little bit about the region's history and folklore. You know me, always interested in local culture and lore!

Before I leave, I just have to tell you about the magical experience I had horseback riding! My friend Sarah (you might remember her from the post about my weekend trip to Derbyshire) organised a little riding excursion. It was incredible to experience the countryside from a horseback! Galloping through meadows and forests, feeling the wind in my hair and the sun on my face - pure bliss! ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’– (Sarah actually had the brightest idea and even helped me fashion a makeshift 'pink tutu saddle pad' to give the horses a touch of my trademark style - oh, it was truly gorgeous!)

Kendal Calling was a beautiful mix of arts, music, nature, and local charm. It was the perfect escape from everyday life, and a reminder of all the things I love about this incredible country. I have to admit, the Lake District lived up to its name! ๐Ÿ’– And guess what? The mountains even looked kinda' pink in the evening sunlight! (Just ask my camera, it'll be happy to prove it!). ๐Ÿ˜„

Now, I can't wait to share all of my photos and stories with you on www.pink-tutu.com, and maybe even inspire some of you to plan your own Lake District adventures. Remember, life is all about finding those little bursts of pink magic, and exploring new corners of this wonderful world!

Until next time, keep twirling! โœจ๐Ÿ’–

With love,

Emma xx
