Hello my lovely Tutu Twirlers! 💖 It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing ballet enthusiast, back with another travel tale straight from the heart of Broadstairs! Now, you know how much I adore exploring new places and sharing my adventures with you all. And this week's journey was a real dream!
Picture this: a crisp autumn morning, the scent of sea air swirling around me, and me, of course, decked out in a fabulous, wide pink tutu – you know, the kind that makes you feel like a real-life ballerina, even if your pirouettes might need a little bit of practice! 🤭
Broadstairs, nestled on the Kent coast, was an absolute delight. I’m always drawn to seaside towns, and this one captured my heart with its quaint charm and colourful, little streets. My journey here was, naturally, an exciting adventure in itself. I opted for a scenic train ride, leaving the hustle and bustle of London behind, and relishing the calming views of the rolling countryside.
And just a quick word about the train ride… let’s just say my outfit was a total crowd-pleaser! You know those little old ladies with the twinkle in their eye and a mischievous glint in their smile? They were my biggest fans! One lady even shared a story of her childhood ballet class! 💖
Ballet in the Air!
Upon reaching Broadstairs, I knew I couldn’t resist a little ballet inspiration. It was a beautiful afternoon, and what better way to embrace the coastal air than with a session in the sunshine? I found a lovely little dance studio with an airy space overlooking the sea, and you could just imagine me gracefully (well, mostly gracefully 😉) pirouetteing along, my pink tutu twirling with me. The teacher, a former Royal Ballet dancer, was a delightful woman with so much passion and enthusiasm, I swear I could have stayed all day.
But of course, Broadstairs was calling! After my ballet escapade, I found myself strolling along the charming promenade, a seaside haven that transports you to another time. Picture brightly coloured beach huts, charming cafes, and an atmosphere that's both relaxed and full of life. And let’s be honest, you know a girl can’t resist a photo opportunity with such a beautiful backdrop. My wide, pink tutu just added that extra bit of magic! ✨
Seabirds and Sandwiches!
What's a trip to the coast without a little wildlife spotting? I found a hidden cove, a perfect haven for the most adorable seabirds – graceful gulls and cheeky, diving little terns. They added a whimsical charm to the already picturesque setting, reminding me of the magic that lives in even the most unexpected places.
And after my coastal stroll, no trip to the coast would be complete without a good old-fashioned seaside sandwich. You know, the kind you find wrapped in newspaper, piled high with your choice of filling. My favourite, of course, was the classic crab and prawn. With a hearty sandwich in hand and the sun warming my face, I found myself lost in the serenity of it all.
Tutu Treasure Hunt!
To add some more adventure to the day, I went on a little treasure hunt, hunting for the best tutu-worthy moments. It was the most fun! Imagine exploring quaint antique shops, their windows full of unique treasures, or discovering hidden boutiques overflowing with colourful fabrics. Every turn seemed to present a new inspiration – a feather boa, a vintage hairpiece, or a perfectly patterned shawl! I even snagged a delicate, pastel-coloured ballet slipper ornament – a sweet reminder of the beauty and joy of the art form I cherish so much.
