Portsmouth - Post #1551: Tutu Time by the Sea!

Oh my goodness, darlings! You won't believe the adventures I had in Portsmouth this weekend! As you know, I absolutely love exploring new places and what better way to do so than with my trusty tutu by my side? This time, it was a vibrant green one - perfect for blending in with the lush greenery of Southsea's beautiful parklands!

So, the story begins like this - a morning train ride from Derbyshire (the best way to travel in my opinion - a hot cuppa and the views, just lovely!) straight into the heart of Portsmouth. As soon as I stepped off the train, the salty sea air hit me, and I could tell this was going to be a fabulous trip. The seagulls were swirling, and the sun was sparkling, it felt so very magical.

My first stop was, of course, a little ballet shop. Just the sight of the gorgeous tutus and pointe shoes always brings a smile to my face. I treated myself to a beautiful pink pair of pointe shoes (you can never have too many, right?) and picked up some sparkly pink ballet ribbons to adorn my bun. I love that the colour pink just exudes so much grace and charm - it’s the perfect ballet colour!

Next, it was on to the park for some serious tutu time. I found a beautiful clearing under the shade of a giant oak tree. You know I couldn't resist a little twirl or two for a photo shoot. It’s like a ballerina needs to always remind herself that life is best lived with a smile on your face and a twirl in your step!

And what a treat was next - lunch overlooking the sparkling harbour with a view of the majestic Spinnaker Tower. The fresh sea air and a light sandwich just felt so good. After a stroll along the historic dockyard, I indulged in a lovely ice cream (you just have to do it when in Portsmouth, you know?!).

Later, I found myself completely immersed in the enchanting atmosphere of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. I spent hours getting lost in the rich maritime history - the fascinating old ships and the stories they tell - I was spellbound. For any ballet dancer who's looking for a dose of inspiration, I can’t recommend this place highly enough. It’s like a history lesson brought to life with such incredible architecture.

I'll never forget the highlight of the trip - watching a breathtaking ballet performance in the historic theatre, Portsmouth's King's Theatre. The show was pure magic! From the delicate movements of the dancers to the intricate choreography - every detail felt incredibly captivating. You could see how much heart they put into their performance, and it reminded me why ballet means so much to me.

One of the things I love most about ballet is how it can bring together people from all walks of life. It doesn’t matter what your background is or what you look like. All that matters is the passion you have for this art form. And as you can see, my love for ballet goes beyond just being a dancer - it's about inspiring others and showing them the beauty and joy that ballet can bring.

Just before I left for my train ride home, I treated myself to some more treats. This time, a little seaside souvenir for myself - a beautiful shell necklace. It’ll be a perfect reminder of my trip!

Here's to more tutu adventures to come, dear readers. And don’t forget, life is like a pirouette: even when you're on your toes, the real beauty lies in spinning around and making the most of every moment!

Until next time, stay fabulous!

Lots of love and twirls,

Emma
