I'm so excited to be writing this post from the heart of the Big Apple, NYC! The energy here is buzzing, the skyscrapers are dizzyingly high, and the street performers are incredible. But for me, the best thing about New York is its connection to the world of ballet! I mean, this is where the American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater call home. It’s a city that really understands the power and beauty of ballet!
Pink Tutus and Big Apple Adventures
Yesterday, I ventured into the vibrant heart of Manhattan in search of the ultimate New York tutu. My vision: a playful, American-style tulle confection with a touch of glitz and glamour. And let me tell you, the shops here do not disappoint! I finally found the perfect one – a bright pink masterpiece with shimmering silver accents that will have me twirling with joy. It’s like the quintessential pink tutu dreamt up in a dreamland of sparkly sequins and fluffy feathers!
I can't wait to wear it to the ballet class I’m going to later today at the prestigious Steps on Broadway. I've always wanted to dance in NYC, and just knowing I'm going to be learning from some of the best instructors in the world is so exciting.
Broadway Magic
Tonight, my excitement is reaching new heights! I’m heading to see a show on Broadway, and it's not just any show, it’s the dazzling, beautiful, utterly captivating "An American in Paris!" With its enchanting music and incredible choreography, this musical tells the story of love, dreams, and finding your way through the chaotic beauty of a city like New York. What's more magical than that?!
A Ballet-Inspired Wardrobe
One of the best things about my trips is bringing my ballet inspiration into my everyday fashion. This city is all about big bold choices and so, I'm going for a dramatic look: think full skirts and whimsical accessories, maybe even a pop of pink lipstick to really celebrate the "American in Paris" spirit. A Love for Wildlife and Trains
Now, although ballet is my absolute passion, it's not all I love! I'm also a big fan of exploring the world – finding hidden treasures, experiencing different cultures, and being surrounded by nature's beauty. And because I believe in leaving a light footprint on the planet, whenever possible, I travel by train or horseback!
My journey here to NYC, for example, involved a cross-country train journey which I absolutely loved. As the train sped across America’s vast landscapes, I felt like a ballerina gliding through a world of incredible scenery. I could even catch glimpses of magnificent eagles soaring overhead, reminding me of the wild beauty that exists beyond the city's glitter.
Making the World a Pink Tutu Paradise
My ultimate goal is to spread the joy of ballet to every corner of the world. Just imagine: people wearing pink tutus in bustling streets, dancing to the rhythm of life, and finding their own graceful movement! The world would be a much more beautiful, and definitely more colourful, place. So come on, loves, let's make this happen!
