Cambridge Calling! 🩰💖 Post #1587

Hey darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-loving ballerina, Emma, back with another dazzling blog post! Today, I'm whisking you all away to the beautiful city of Cambridge, a place that's as charming as a pair of vintage ballet slippers. I travelled in style, of course - a grand, vintage train carriage, with plush seats, lots of gossip and of course, a spot of tea and scones!

I’m on a mission this week to see if Cambridge can match Derbyshire for its graceful, inspiring atmosphere, you see! Derbyshire has some wonderful horse riding opportunities and some amazing woodland walks (not to mention those glorious Bakewell tarts - I could eat them every day, darling!), but it’s not the same for dance opportunities, I must say.

You see, I'm on a constant search for the ultimate pink tutu haven, a place where twirling in my favourite frilly fashion is encouraged. (Because really, isn't that everyone's dream?! 😉) I think Cambridge has serious potential, though! I already found this amazing ballet shop, tucked away in a cobbled street with the most gorgeous, blush-pink door - heaven!

A Royal Treat

First, I went to a divine little tea room, right next to the ballet shop, to treat myself to a teacup full of lovely floral tea and a pink-frosted cake - it's important to fuel those dance-inspired adventures! 🍰

The waitress had this adorable, rosy-cheeked grin. “Don't you know, love,” she told me, “The King has been seen taking a ballet class just down the road! Imagine!”

Well, that really made me smile, darling! 👑 If even the King's a fan, then the world must be ready for a full-on ballet explosion!

I couldn’t wait to see what the Cambridge ballet scene had to offer!

Twirling Around Town

And oh, let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed. This town is full of little dance schools and charming theatres tucked away in little side streets. The ballet classes here are quite different from what I’m used to, in Derbyshire! They’re more focused on precision and elegance. I just love how they take the time to perfect each movement.

Then, imagine my joy! I discovered a cute little boutique with a tiny collection of vintage ballet shoes - just imagine the elegant steps those shoes have seen over the years! They even had some old tutus on display – though not quite the colour pink, they had this delightful cream with a scattering of pink ribbons! I didn't even try to resist! I am now the proud owner of the cutest pair of vintage pointe shoes!

My Day at the Ballet

I had the chance to go to a show at the beautiful Cambridge Arts Theatre - they had the most beautiful vintage-style interior, adorned with elaborate decorations and swirling pink light fittings! They were holding a special ballet performance of Giselle! 🩰

It was breathtaking. A little something to lift any ballerina’s spirits! So many emotions – and all within one beautiful performance! Oh, if only every day could be a day at the ballet!

Back in my Room

Now, you'd think a day like that would leave me totally worn out, wouldn't you? But all that twirling has given me energy to spare! The best bit? My hotel room is so elegant, you just have to look at it! A delicate lace doily under my dainty, pink ballerina lamp, the prettiest view over the city’s green roof - this hotel really gets me feeling so peaceful!

Onwards and Upwards!

I've had such a lovely day, darling, that I just want to say…Cambridge is truly living up to my expectations!

I'm sure you'll be back, with your own travel blog! You’ll have a brilliant time – so be sure to put it on your ‘to do’ list!

Oh, and one final tip? Make sure you're sporting a pink tutu when you visit! It’s practically mandatory! You’ll blend right in. 🌸🩰

Lots of love,

Emma
