Colchester Calling: Pink Tutu on the Rails! 🩰🌸🚂

Hello, my darling tutu-loving friends! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Colchester, and let me tell you, it was pure pink-tutu magic!

Colchester is a charming little town in Essex, and I got there the good old-fashioned way: by train! The journey was delightful, as always. I settled into my seat, grabbed a hot chocolate and devoured a good book while gazing out at the countryside. The English landscape is something else - rolling green hills, quaint villages and, of course, the occasional glimpse of a horse, which always puts a smile on my face!

I've always had a special connection to horses. Maybe it's because their grace and elegance reminds me so much of ballet? There's just something so majestic about them, isn't there? And their powerful muscles are like the ones we use in ballet - it’s amazing to think about the way our bodies are designed for movement.

But I digress...back to Colchester! I was there to see a spectacular ballet production at the Colchester Arts Centre. It was a modern piece, and I just loved how it played with traditional techniques and blended them with contemporary choreography. You can see, my friends, that I’m not just a classic pink-tutu girl! I love all styles of dance, from traditional ballet to contemporary to even a bit of ballet street! Of course, a good old-fashioned ballet show will always have a special place in my heart. The dancers were phenomenal, with incredible stamina and technique. I was blown away by their athleticism and artistry.

Speaking of artistry, did I mention I had the most adorable pink tutu on? 😉 You guys know I never leave home without it, right? Even in Colchester! It added just the right amount of whimsical fun to the day. Honestly, a pink tutu is the perfect accessory for any occasion, no matter what the occasion. The woman beside me in the auditorium, watching the dancers with her chin resting in her hands, asked me, “Do you get called crazy often for your tutu?”

“Every single day of my life!” I replied with a mischievous smile. It was more than a little chuckle to see a young man enter the arts centre with a red scarf with what appeared to be a red feather in his hand... I imagined the reaction of people around if I just took my pink tutu off and twirled. “This is a little like ballet street, don’t you think?” I thought.

When I wasn't admiring the graceful dancers or twirling in my pink tutu, I took a little walk around Colchester. I visited the beautiful Colchester Castle and even found a shop where they sold handmade pottery, another art I admire for its sheer talent. The shopkeeper said her grandfather made some of the pottery for the Castle many years ago and they were still in place today! I just thought that was incredibly sweet.

And let's not forget about the wildlife! The park near the castle was abuzz with squirrels, ducks, and pigeons. It's amazing to watch how these creatures go about their daily lives with such energy and purpose.

I must admit, there was a bit of a crisis at the end of the day… I lost my phone! Can you imagine my horror?! But I just put myself in the mind of my dance teacher back home who constantly says, “Stay focused!” And thankfully, I thought back over all the places I’d been during the day. I just knew I would get it back! A big thank you to a lovely woman at a café called “The Rusty Nail”. That’s where I had an afternoon pastry!

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the town, I knew I had to leave. But Colchester had a special place in my heart, and I couldn’t wait to come back again soon.

On the way home on the train, I found myself lost in thought. Ballet. Horses. Travel. Pink tutus. I guess it's the combination of these things that really makes my life so exciting!

To everyone out there who feels the same way about ballet and its magic, keep dancing! Don't let anyone tell you you can't wear a pink tutu. Wear it proudly, be bold, and spread the joy of ballet wherever you go!

And hey, maybe if enough of us are rocking pink tutus, we'll finally get that grand ball everyone's been talking about! 😉

Stay fabulous, my darlings!

Love,

Emma 🌸💖
