Folkestone Fancy: A Nature-Inspired Tutu Adventure

Oh, darlings! Another day, another pink tutu, another fabulous adventure! I’m just back in my little Derbyshire flat from a whirlwind trip to Folkestone, and let me tell you, it was pure pink bliss. Folkestone, for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure, is a gorgeous little seaside town tucked away in Kent, with stunning cliffs and a bustling, friendly vibe. I absolutely fell in love with the place.

Now, my trip to Folkestone was all about combining two of my greatest passions – ballet and wildlife. And what better way to bring these two together than with a tutu inspired by nature, itself?

A Tutu Inspired By Nature

This time, my design muse was the incredible white cliffs that border Folkestone. They rise majestically from the sea, like chalk sculptures carved by the hand of nature itself. So, imagine a cloud of white tulle, swirling and delicate, just like the frothy waves crashing against the rocks below. The bodice, a perfect blush pink, mimicking the sunrise that painted the cliffs in a warm glow as I arrived. I added accents of shimmering silver sequins, catching the sunlight like the shimmering dew drops that often cling to the wildflowers that sprawl across the clifftops.

And then there were the flowers! My hair, cascading in gentle curls, was adorned with a delicate garland of wildflowers, their colours mirroring those of the flowers that dot the meadows bordering the cliffs. It was a breathtaking sight – I literally felt like I had stepped out of a fairytale.

My Trip To The Coast

Getting to Folkestone was an adventure in itself. I love train journeys – something about watching the countryside whizz by, and knowing that each little village I pass through has its own unique story, really makes my heart sing. But I didn't stop there! For a truly unique journey, I hitched a ride on a horse-drawn carriage to the beach – talk about romantic! Imagine me, with my tulle billowing behind me, gliding past the charming cobbled streets, the smell of salty air filling my senses. Absolutely divine!

Once in Folkestone, my itinerary was bursting with activities. First, a visit to the Folkestone Museum. Not only is it housed in a beautifully grand Victorian building, but it had a fantastic collection of exhibits detailing the town’s rich history, with stories about its seafaring heritage and its impact on the artistic scene. The museum, much like the town itself, was both charming and sophisticated.

Next, I simply had to experience the cliffs. I wandered through the grassy meadows, basking in the warmth of the sun, mesmerized by the towering white walls. It was so peaceful, a world away from the busy world I left behind in London. And the views from the cliffs – breathtaking! The sparkling expanse of the English Channel stretching out before me, the picturesque seaside town dotted with colourful beach huts…pure poetry.

Later, I treated myself to a leisurely stroll along the charming harbour front. I loved the quaint little shops, the bustle of the boats, and the cafes offering warm, delicious treats. The atmosphere was so welcoming – everyone seemed happy and relaxed.

Folkestone Ballet Dreams

Of course, no trip would be complete without some ballet, so I made sure to attend a wonderful performance by the Folkestone Ballet Company at the local theatre. They showcased a beautiful repertoire of modern and classical pieces, the choreography effortlessly combining grace and strength. My pink tutu, a reminder of the cliff’s beauty, sparkled under the theatre lights as I applauded, feeling so inspired.

In fact, that’s what makes my journeys so special – the feeling of inspiration that wells up inside me, the impetus to create, to move, to embrace the magic that surrounds me. And Folkestone was a veritable gold mine for creativity. The seaside views, the quaintness of the town, the vibrancy of the local talent – everything just inspired me to want to dance and dream and spread the love of ballet to everyone.

Embracing The Pink Tutu

And that, dear friends, is exactly what I want to encourage you to do: embrace the pink tutu! Let your imagination fly, express yourself, be bold, be fearless! No matter where you are or what you’re doing, wear your pink tutu, be proud of it, and embrace all the joys that come with embracing your individuality.

From a peaceful seaside town to an inspiring ballet performance, Folkestone proved to be the perfect antidote to a busy life. And now I'm back in my little flat in Derbyshire, my pink tutu packed away for another adventure, my head filled with ideas and my heart full of the joy of being alive, dancing to the beat of my own heart.

Until next time, stay stylish, stay passionate, and keep wearing those tutus!
