Cleethorpes Calling: A Tutu Adventure to the Seaside! (Post #1722)

Oh, darlings! How's everyone's week going? Mine's been a whirl of feathers, twirls and, oh yes, a whole lot of pink! You know me - if it's not pink, it doesn't exist. And today's outfit, well, let's just say I felt like a candy floss dream. A very wide, floaty, pink tulle tutu, paired with a delicate lavender blouse, my favourite fuchsia boots, and, of course, my trusty pink floral hat!

But, what brings me to the delightful seaside town of Cleethorpes, you ask? Why, a whole host of reasons, my darlings! First and foremost, this gorgeous seaside town boasts the most enchanting ballet studio I've ever seen! Tucked away in a quaint little cobbled lane, it had a beautiful white façade adorned with pretty pink roses and a sweet, old-fashioned sign that read "The Twirling Swan". My heart skipped a beat. This place screamed ballet magic, and I knew I had to spend the day here!

The studio, inside, was just as charming. Wooden floors polished to a shine, sunbeams dappling through the windows, a whole wall covered with posters of ballerinas both iconic and up-and-coming, and the air fragrant with lavender and the sweet scent of fresh wood polish. A dreamy haven for ballet-loving souls.

Of course, a quick little warm-up with the gorgeous students was in order, their youthful energy bouncing off the walls. And just for a moment, I forgot the age thing (you know, being in my 20s), feeling a sweet rush of pure joy as I pirouetted with them, feeling their enthusiasm flow through me. This is why I do what I do - to remind people that it's never too late to dance your heart out. Ballet isn't just for little girls, it's for anyone who feels the rhythm of grace and beauty in their souls.

After the warm-up, a stroll along the beautiful beach was just what I needed. Cleethorpes is quite a special place, you know. The vastness of the sea and sky really fills you with that feeling of possibility. Of course, I couldn't resist adding my touch of pink. A delicate pink parasol to shield me from the sunshine, a playful pink beach bag overflowing with my essentials (a pink cashmere blanket, naturally!), and my favourite pink pearl necklace to add a little glitz to the shore.

I had to take some snaps of the gorgeous shoreline. The beach was truly a sight to behold, bathed in golden light, with playful waves lapping gently against the shore. There was a sweet, salty air, and a flock of seagulls circled overhead, their calls a rhythmic symphony in the breeze. Cleethorpes truly embraced me with a gentle welcome, like a warm embrace on a sunny afternoon.

I felt so inspired by the seaside scene that I started sketching a new tutu design. You know me, always sketching, always dreaming up new ways to bring joy and colour to the world through my pink tulle masterpieces! This design was all about seaside serenity. Soft blues and creams, inspired by the changing colours of the waves and sky. Oh, how I wish you could all be here right now to share the joy with me, but alas, it's just my sketchbook for now.

But wait, it gets even better! In the afternoon, I headed to the beautiful, newly-restored Victorian theatre in Cleethorpes - a real gem of a venue. This charming theatre, with its beautifully restored plush seats, the smell of old-world elegance lingering in the air, and the faint rustle of faded velvet curtains...oh, it's a feast for the senses.

Today was their performance of “Sleeping Beauty” – a beautiful, whimsical ballet that brought back such fond memories. I swear I could have sat through another two performances! Seeing so much joy in the faces of the little ones, their eyes twinkling with wonder as the ballet unfolded on stage, it truly touched my heart. There’s something incredibly magical about sharing this timeless classic with children and adults alike. It's a gift, you know, the gift of dance, a language that transcends words, touching every soul with its graceful beauty.

Of course, a seaside day isn't complete without a treat. I tucked into the most delightful slice of pink strawberry cake (naturally) overlooking the sea, with a pot of beautifully fragrant Earl Grey tea, perfectly paired with a crisp pink lemonade. Talk about a delicious combination for a perfect afternoon!

As I boarded the train back home to Derbyshire, my heart brimmed with joy and the excitement of new inspirations. Every journey, every new place, fuels my creativity. The beauty of Cleethorpes, the warmth of its welcoming people, the breathtaking beauty of the beach, and the magic of the ballet stage, all come together to paint a vibrant canvas on my soul.

You know, my darlings, sometimes I think the best things in life come in a delightful pink package - wrapped in fluffy tulle, tied with a ribbon of laughter, and a sprinkle of love for the magic of the world. Until tomorrow, let your inner ballerina twirl freely!

Love always,

Emma
