Grantham Calling! Post 1748 - Tutu Adventures in a Sunny Orange

Oh darling, I am absolutely bursting to tell you all about my whirlwind trip to Grantham! I always get such a thrill stepping onto a train, it feels like embarking on a grand adventure, especially with my trusty orange tutu in tow! You know I’m a girl who believes every outfit needs a little sparkle, and a bright orange tutu in the sunshine? Pure magic.

I don’t know about you lovelies, but I can't help but feel a little extra glamorous on a train journey. The clackety-clack of the wheels against the rails always puts me in a joyous mood. Especially with my book, a fancy magazine, and, of course, a pink lip gloss – gotta stay on top of my pout game, even on the rails!

This trip was extra special as I had a mission: to see a truly wonderful street ballet performance. Now, I have to admit, I've always loved ballet in the traditional sense – the beautiful theaters, the opulent costumes, the sheer skill. But watching a performance outside, in the fresh air, amidst the hustle and bustle of Grantham town centre… it was utterly breathtaking! The dancers, with their effortless movements, brought the story to life in a way I never imagined possible. I swear I could feel the energy radiating from their performances!

Grantham, by the way, was absolutely delightful! It has this charming, historic air about it, but it doesn't feel at all stuck in the past. I found myself happily wandering through the charming streets, gazing at the beautiful architecture. It really does feel like a place where history comes alive. The Grantham Guildhall, in particular, took my breath away! I absolutely had to grab a selfie with its magnificent façade, naturally. (I'm on Instagram at @emmaballetbliss, give me a follow, darlings!)

Of course, I couldn't just visit Grantham without paying my respects to the animal kingdom. It is the county of Lincolnshire, after all. I'm always so happy to spot any cute creatures on my travels! And trust me, Grantham definitely did not disappoint! I was treated to the sight of adorable robins, fluffy pigeons, and even a cheeky squirrel making off with a stray crumb. The sheer variety of wildlife was simply delightful!

Now, you know me well enough by now to realise that this trip had to involve some serious ballet action! I slipped into my dance shoes and got lost in the magic of a ballet class at the wonderful Grantham Performing Arts Centre. They truly are a breath of fresh air, and they embraced my orange tutu with open arms. We danced our hearts out to classic music, feeling every twirl and pirouette! The feeling of camaraderie in that class was phenomenal! Everyone, even the beginners, radiated sheer joy, and I swear the smiles on their faces were brighter than my orange tutu!

It goes without saying, after a day filled with such brilliance, I absolutely had to treat myself. Luckily, Grantham was more than happy to oblige! The town boasts a delicious mix of charming tea rooms and delightful cafes, serving all sorts of wonderful treats. I settled down in a quaint little café nestled among the cobblestone streets, where I indulged in a scrumptious afternoon tea. Scones, pastries, and my usual pot of pink tea, accompanied by the chirping of birds and the gentle clinking of spoons, created the perfect symphony of relaxation.

But of course, no day is truly complete without a touch of elegance and, well, pink. I can't deny my love for pink, darling. I believe every colour deserves its moment, and when it comes to fashion, pink never fails to uplift my spirits. As I walked through the town centre, I noticed a lovely antique shop filled with treasures. Now, you can’t visit a cute shop in a place like Grantham without finding some new pink paraphernalia, and let me tell you, my dear readers, this antique shop did not disappoint.

A vintage pink ribbon, so perfectly soft, had my name written all over it! And let's just say I did some pretty amazing haggling! I’ll definitely be using that in a tutu DIY later! It's such a joy to find those little touches that just scream ‘vintage’ and ‘Emma’ all at once!

The train journey back home felt like a soft waltz. A peaceful melody against the gentle swaying of the carriage. And honestly, I felt a little lighter. As though I'd learned something, felt something new. A reminder, darling, that adventure awaits everywhere.

So, if you're feeling adventurous, or maybe a little peckish, perhaps a trip to Grantham is just what you need! There's something so beautiful about stepping outside of your comfort zone, wearing a bit of sparkle (and orange, naturally), and seeing the world with a little bit of ballerina grace! Who knows? Perhaps it'll be the perfect way to inspire you to step into your very own pink tutu.

Until tomorrow darling,

Emma xxx
